Revenge for what? Nintendo pissing off Sony and Sony kicking the hell out of them for two generations for their stupidity?

I wouldn't call it stupidity. Based on what I know by the way the deal was written up at the time accepting probably would of cost Nintendo more.

The deal gave Sony complete control over any game made on the SNES CD.  It was just a bad contract all around.  The only stupid part was signing it in the first place.

Exactly, Nintendo allowed Sony to develop the thing and then backed out of the contract. So really Sony got revenge on Nintendo.

And then Sony blew all of their accumulated profits on the PS3, and Nintendo are market leaders again.

Maybe Nintendo pulling out of the SNES CD project wasn't really a mistake - perhaps it was a trap to bring Sony into the industry, trick them into thinking that they were winning, and then beat them in the end.

Ehh... if posts like this keep happening it's going to be harder and harder to come here.

"Revenge" really?

Revenge for what? Making a better product that last two generations?

I mean, if you didn't buy a playstation system the last two generations and instead got nintendo systems i'm guessing you did for the first party. So who cares?

What do you need revenge for? I mean the Gamecube and N64 had a handful of the best games of each generation. Nothing to be getting "revenge" over.

I think the N64 gives the PS1 a run for its money.

Also, why do you have to flame Nintendo everytime a fanboy makes a post like this? All of you are guilty, flamers.

If you wanna judge a system by sales, like you are the cube and the n64, then apparently you think the Wii is twice as good as the PS3 and 360 combined.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

...and then came the Wii and DS. It's a viscious cycle.

Enjoy the sweet taste of victory Nintendo fans. It is like seeing your sports team getting a break through championship win. You support your team through think and thin. You finally get rewarded with a memorable victory. Glory times for Nintendo have arrived and enjoy the victory.

I totally get that you're trying to be a good sport but I honestly I think there is something to be said for goodsportmanship on the winner's side as well.  I don't think anyone should feel the "taste of sweet victory" because the PS3 or 360 are doing poorly (they aren't).  They should get that because the Wii is doing well.

Revenge? No. Victory? Yeah, ok.

Consoles are not a zero sum game, or in other words one company's gains are not another company's losses.  All three companies can prosper without the need for total collapse or the world imploding.  I think a lot of Sony fans acted like jackasses on the internet during the Sony reign and I'd love to see the Nintendo fans set the standard by showing that it doesn't have to be that way.  I get the distinct impression that the mods pretty much agree with this sentiment so those of you planning to do otherwise might want to keep your gloating in check.

N64 failed by being the last cartridge based console. If it was a CD based console N64 would of done so much better. Cartidges are expensive and have limited storage capacity. CD's storage capcity exceeds cartridge storage capacity and are much cheaper to produce than cartridges

for me, it's not exactly revenge, as i wasn't a fan of Nintendo before the Wii!!

but after hearing so much hateful comments about Wii (from fanboys) i'm so happy that people understand how fun the Wii is!! : )

It is revenge time for the Wii fans this generation, with Wii more than doubling console sales of the PS3. Over a decade the PS1 and PS2 mauled both the N64 and Game Cube in console sales.

230 million for the first two Play Station consoles between 1994 to now compared N64 and Game Cube 56 million. PS outsold Nintendo in consoles by more than 4 times.

Nintendo fans with the Wii' success will be saying revenge is sweet and will be popping the champagne that has been on ice for many years.

Wow...this thread is unimaginably pathetic.

Revenge would be making a console with the same target audience and stealing all of the PS3's biggest exclusives/multiplats.

Kind of like what Sony did to Nintendo with the PSX/PS2 for 10 years.

I don't know about you, but I don't see GTA IV, Resident Evil 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Call of Duty 4, Metal Gear Solid 4 etc... on the Wii.

They've only managed to get MH:3 which is only popular in Japan.

If anything, Nintendo have accepted defeat and moved on to a different target audience.

^Well, we all have our definitions of revenge. So let the "lawyering" begin!

But still, when one sports team (game console) wins a tournament (console war), no one cares about who's in the roster (games library), if they've won, they've won.

I think it's even more of a victory to NOT steal their franchises and then still come out on top.
