HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

oh wait, was this a serious topic?

It's as logical as people who said SSBB would outsell GTA4.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

It's nice not being on the PS3 browser anymore...

Anyway, MGS2 was a disappointment to a lot of people (not me), so MGS3 didn't sell as well. It was only a prequel and on the same system and released when Halo 2 was, I believe.

However, as you can see, the difference is only 3 million between MGS and Halo 2. I fully expect MGS4 to sell better than these previous versions with the bundle. Halo 3 still has a ways to go to catch up to Halo 2.

But hey, we'll see. I don't particularly care either way. Halo is probably the most overblown game as far as sales go. CoD4 has blown it away. Granted, that's multiplatform, but the way it is still selling it might pass Halo 3 on 360 alone.

The difference is only 3 million between Halo 2 and MGS 1&2. but Halo 3 also hasn't topped out for its sales potential. I imagine it will settle somewhere closer to Halo 2. Maybe a few hundred thousand over or under, but nothing significant.

I also had forgotten about the bundle when typing my post up. Your second reply came while I was typing so I missed it. It does muddy the water a bit on the potential sales. I am going to refrain from any specific prediction in light of that fact. There is also a decent chance being the first on the console it will trigger a sales surge in both Europe and America which is why I was using the high points for comparison before. Without knowing how long that bundle will be present, and whether or not MGS 4 will trigger a resurgence in popularity with the series there are just too many variables.

I do agree that Halo 3 as a measuring stick is way over used. A lot of games with lower initial sales have a really good shot at over-taking the sales lifetime. The problem is people like big numbers so Halo 3 sticks out in their mind. Combine that with everyone wanting their favorite internet popular series to do way better than it ever has a realistic chance to do and you have the constant flow of threads expecting anything and everything to be better than the all-mighty Halo 3.

Personally, I have a hard time believing that MGS4 LTD will surpass Halo 3 first week sales. Okay, that's a bit harsh, but people are severely overestimating MGS4.

It wont happen we are still hoping for over 1m for first week :D

Metal Gear. I don't think so... Final Fantasy 13 has a better chance. Given its popularity in all three major markets.

Most definitely NO!(but I wish to be disappointed)

Increase of sales, most likely through the miracles of BUNDLING.

Noooo, it will probably sell juste above one million first week. If it reaches 3 millions in its lifetime, this will be good enough!

Might I remind some people that halo 3 is well on its way to outselling halo 2 (its already beaten it in japan and others) and its several hundred thousand ahead of where halo 2 was at this point in time in NA.
