Forums - Nintendo - Do Nintendo fans enjoy seeing the downfall of the HD consoles?

Someone call me when Wii fit, Wii Play & Wii Sports are considered hardcore games.

How come everytime Wii owners ask the HD consoles to own up to getting torn up in sales, they say, "Oh well, I hate the Wii cause of (insulting passive-agressive Wii Bingo reason)." Instead of just admitting that the Wii might just be the more popular console.

You ever stop to think that maybe just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that it sucks? There is a whole country full of people who don't eat cows, it's against their religion. They hate the direction cows are going. Luckily for the rest of the world, that country is in the minority. Doesn't make them right or wrong, but it sure as hell doesn't give them the right to whine at the rest of the world when beef skyrockets, and donkey meat bottoms out.

Your opinion can't be correct or incorrect by definition. Sales can. Why don't you just say "good for the Wii" and move on, instead of insulting it out of insecurity, panic, hate, and jealousy?

The Wii hate started in the main stream press last month, but lately I've been really dissapointed with a lot of posters on this forum who seem to have made it their mission to "knock nintendo fanboys down a peg."

This site has always been a competition. If you can't win, your gonna spoil everyones fun? That's not playing fair, now is it? Reminds me of my 5 year old cousin.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I've nothing against the presence of competitors.

But still, the PS3 and 360 aren't suffering from a downfall. But it's enjoyable that they are taking a beating when it comes to sales. The behaviour of the Xbox fans last gen is extremely annoying and disproportionate to the Xbox sales. Just because you outsold the GC by only 3 million or so does not give you the bragging rights.

Yet they behave if Xbox = PS2 last time, and it makes gaming forums rather painful to read through. Don't they realize MS and Sony are not allies in this market? 360 + PS3 sales > Wii sales at the moment, but the console wars are a first past the post election. Whoever gets the highest number of hardware sales "wins", no matter how high the runners up get.

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine...

Strangely, so do I. As far as that is concerned, as long as Fallout 3 doesn't suck, I'll die happy.

I have confidence it will be good...but then, I'm a huge fan of Oblivion, and I never played Fallout 1 and 2. How long are those, btw? But yeah, I'm all for the expanding of the gaming market. Sony did it for 10 years, and now Nintendo is doing it again after saving the industry in the 80s. Good times.

Well I actually thought when playing Fallout 2 that a cross between Fallout 2 and Morrowind would be the perfect WRPG if it took the best aspects of each. Therefore I'm hoping for a great game as well.

Fallout 2 - the length varies depending on how you play. I think its possible to win in something like 10 minutes but it should probably take you about the same time as an average RPG.

10 minutes? Is there some secret way to win at the beginning? I assume that's one of multiple endings?

No its just that almost everything you can do is optional, thus if you miss out all the optional stuff its possible to finish very quickly.

Whoah.. Easy there fella. Sorry but this thread is oozing of flame bait. Downfall is quite an akward thing say. Don't you agree? So wasn't the thread already meant to be this way from the start?

Believe me.. I'm not competing... I got other thing to do than argue which console is the best. Competition for what sake? Loyalty for a Company or a console? Heck.. Make the company slap me some $$$ then I'll do it but otherwise....

No! thank you but I won't sign up for it.

Wii's success will lead to worse hardcore games?

False. Did, the success of Toyota and Volksvagen lead to crappier Ferrari's and Lamborghini's? No, if anything the 'hardcore' developers will have to work harder to try and draw in more people from the casual crowd

 Thank you.

While I think the overblown exaggerated hyperbolic analogies such as a Toyota vs Ferrariare arrogant, the same analogy can be knocked on it side with the statemnt you just made.

Did the drama and action movie genres die after comedies and kids movies become widely available?

Did people stop reading the classics and complex novels whent eh comic book came about?

Did people stop eating steak when McDonalds first opened?

Again I loathe these kinds of analogies but it seems to speak directly to the gaming elitists who cry the sky is falling at the fist sign that their niche market may have company.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

No, but it will inevitably lead to a niche console that's only "hardcore", i.e. every game is a RPG and/or a FPS (yes, I know that's a generalisation, but it's close). Sony looks happy to take up that mantle.

Wear gaudy colours or avoid display. It's all the same.

Be warned, I will use walls of polysyllables and complex clauses as a defence against lucid argument.

Wand to read a creepy thread?

"Downfall" implies negative porgession last time I looked the PS3's momentum was increasinh with the XBOX doing much better than it did last gen.

But yes it is saddening to see the PS3 come in second place every month and have the least install base out of the 3. I'll be slightly happier when it overtakes the 360.

@Imperial, you do know the Sony Defense Force was started as a joke, right?
