@ Clandecyon: SSBB is alot about celebrating game history. SMG isn't a part of gaming history yet, it's brandnew and a planetshaped level doesnt fit the platform based levels SSBB are build around. I expect the Mario level to be a wink on the past. A Paper Mario level?
Well Joemanji, all the Zelda stuff is Twilight Princess-themed so far, which is still less than a year old...it's definitely not impossible to see a Mario Galaxy addition.

Well I think there will definitely be more than one mario level. How they will break them down is in the air. Like what Ben said, with a Bowser stage, or possibly like in Melee with a Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 2, etc stages. I could see there being a Mario Galaxy stage just as easily as an appearance of Olimar or Chibi-robo. More as either a fun or promotional thing. They are using (as Ben just beat me to it) the Twilight Princess models for Zelda and Link afterall, Mario has Sunshine's FLUDD, and Lucas is the new Earthbound character from the more modern Mother 3.
You are definitely right about the nostalgia, but it's still possible to see some current additions in the mix. I think a Mario Galaxy stage could be really interesting. The stage traveling from planet to planet with different gravities on each planet and different themes. Asteroids and other space objects from Mario Galaxy coming into the screen to either be walked on or have to avoid. Random stars to shoot yourself up or serve some alternative fighting function like the Kirby stars. Who knows what Sakurai's team could do with that environment.
I mean so far we already have a Sunshine stage, and Melee did break them down by games, so seeing a stage that is Galaxy themed could still be in the cards.
The Arwing makes an emergency landing on the edge of a dense jungle. As Diddy Kong discovers it, and evil hand reaches for him from the lake...

We’re using an extravagant chorus with the Super Smash Bros. Brawl main theme, right? Well, when we recorded it, we also created and recorded the Fire Emblem theme with the same members.
In Japan, the lyrics used in commercials are quite famous ("♪If danger approaches, retreat helter-skelter!"), but in taking it worldwide, I’ve reflected on the Fire Emblem world and done the lyrics in Latin.
If you were to write them in English, they would go something like this:
Fire Emblem, companions walk The endless path together.
In the wavering shadow of spite, Our home is faced by the oncoming spear, Engulfed in flames.
I keep that unforgettable day in my heart And now rise up together with my companions.
Fire Emblem, our bond shall be never broken.
We hold fast to protect tomorrow And the one who awaits our return.
Fire Emblem, light gathers on the flag we unfurl.
Fire Emblem, we gaze upon the multitude of stars, Gripping our blades.
If we do not bring light to the darkness in these lands, The shooting stars will soar over a wasteland.
Fire Emblem, on whom does the morning sun shine As she climbs over the edge of battle?

Yeah models is one thing, stages is a different thing. A SMG stage would be cool with the different gravities as you mentioned but I wouldn't count on it. All the stages are classics. Twilight even only a year old can be considered as a "classic" already. Mother 3 was released a decade ago, so that's only new to western gamers.
But yeah a Mario stage, they could easily make hundreds of them, they are all classics! Still a Paper Mario level that switches from 2D to 3D would be crazy! A Mario Kart level is most likely to happen.
