Overall, NPD's research indicates that the video game industry is doing well. It said that there was a total of $1.23 billion in game sales in April, a 47 percent increase over the $839 million sold a year earlier. Similarly, hardware sales were up 26 percent, from $339 million in April 2007 to $426 million in April 2008.

Well atleast this will make for a very interesting thread. For once the sides that champion VGchartz numbers as accurate and those that say they prefer NPD numbers will be switched. That'll be fun to see which side people end up on.

I wait for the big adjustment in PS3, Xbox360 and PSP numbers.

GTA IV sold 6 million in its first week -- 2.8 million represents the first 5 days. Let's say that the first seven is 3.1 million US, 2.9 million Europe. Totally possible, as Europe was proportionally a stronger market for GTA to begin with.

 and also, How would they justify the 600 million (or whatever it is they claimed they've made)????

Anyway, so many holes, where is NPD's explanation? They always say something along with their numbers.
