add a radioactive toaster AND the bread, then you might be on to something.

Makes sense but Wiiconnect24 already has a cap on it. XD
Care to elaborate what you mean by a cap?  I've not heard of a "cap".

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Animal Crossing series producer Katsuya Eguchi has revealed some new information about the Wii version of Animal Crossing through an interview with Kikizo magazine.

Eguchi hopes to take advantage of the always-on WiiConnect24 online service with Animal Crossing Wii, as it’s revealed that players might be able to visit each other’s towns, even when the town’s owner is not online. Gamers would be able to interact with objects and neighbors in a town even when that town owner is away from their Wii and their console is powered off.

Most interesting, though, Eguchi gives an example of how players might be able to send and receive real e-mail using their own PC and Animal Crossing on Wii.

No official information has been announced for Animal Crossing Wii, thus readers should take note that these are just examples of ideas the series’ producer would like to implement with the title.

We’ll have more as it happens

I interviewed Katsuya Eguchi about Animal Crossing Wii back at E3 2005 and he discussed that very thing but since we didn't know much about the Wii or its abilities at that time, it didn't make much sense.   That and I don't think the translator fully comprehended it either.

I directly asked him about using the in-game mail service as an email system between gamers and he confirmed it at the time but made no mention of PC connectivity with it.

This torrent idea may have some plausibility to it.

You may be more correct than you imagine. This quote from Sean Malstrom fits very nicely.

"You may think the revolution has come and gone, but I am here to tell you it has just begun. So far, the Wii has been little more than tidal waves slamming the shores and sweeping over the industry. Every month, people stare at Wii NPD numbers in wonder. “Oh heavens, PLEASE be a fad. Please!” This Fall is as critical to the success of Wii as the launch. It is from here that those irregular tidal waves will become a longstanding flood. Many people sold their DS systems the first year because “there were no games”. Now, the DS has “too many games”. For those who sold their Wii systems, good luck trying to buy another one this Fall. This Fall will begin to have ‘too many games’. Nintendo will also unveil hardware you already have (but didn’t know about) in order to ‘surprise’ the market.

Perhaps the surprise using equipment we already have is the bit torrent launch pperhaps with a harddrive. That shouldn't be too big a challenge, inexpensive high capacity, high speed portable USB harddrives are pretty common.

Malstrom is conroversial but he seems to be the one commentator that really understands and anticipated Nintendo's success.s

So I should expect my Wii to display a "Found New Hardware" window ? :D

I browse the web too much and not enough *pron* in my day so I bump into discussons similar to this where people note certain things.

One person at a college had a Wii and didn't want his Wiiconnect to use up too much bandwidth, another person mentioned something about a cap.

I probably shouldn't of added the above until I checked it out for myself, however at that time I forgot where I first got that information.

Anywho the cap was minimal I believe he said about 120kbs.

Thinking about it now, I really should of checked that out... but like then I'm too lazy to do so now.

grain of salt much?

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Beats me, I'm not as clever and well informed as Malstrom. Though I have always thought that the Wii seemed  too internet capable for what it has been actually used for. I never had any devise or computer that was as easy to get online even with fairly tough security enabled. Also, I've noticed that it never seems to have trouble staying online even though it shares a room with my Sony computer which has a much harder time even though I put a USB range extender on it.
