I had my PS3 for a year and 3 months so no warrenty. Its going to cost me $150 dollars to get fixed and COD4 is stuck inside the system. I thought that it was just a rumor but its true. Has this happen to anyone else.

I also notice from ur sig you have a 60gig PS3. How does Sony handle repairs for discontinued models like that, under warranty or not?
I'm assuming it's illegal for them to put your 60gig hard drive in another PS3 without the same BC that you paid for.
I've never had any problems with my 60GB (US model) PS3, except for freezing during Assassin's Creed. I've had mine for almost 11 months, so its not quite as old as your 60GB. I really hope the YLoD doesn't become as big of a problem as the PS2's Disc Read Error. (Though I don't think it will.)
^it shouldn't, people need to learn to buy compressed air cans and stand their console upright. Good airflow and good dusting every once in a while is a good thing.

I heard of the yellow light before. The most common problem which i've had is freezing. Mainly with the net, GOW1 frooze once and B:A51 (too much loading and I didn't download the update initially). I find it strange that no matter how much i've played resistance i've still had not one problem. Maybe it's the coding. I've read a couple complaints about AC, cod4 and gtaiv causing problems.

Probably because AC/COD4/GTAIV are among the most played games for N.A.? All games freeze from time to time - the more popular the game, the more you'll hear people mention it.
I wonder what it is about the 60gigs that cause the issues. It always seems to be those that people are mentioning.

I dust mine a ton, but I have it lying down flat. I'd imagine it will be fine though, because I have it resting on the top of my entertainment center with nothing above it or to the sides.

Yeah, probably.
I don't think it's just the 60's. There seems to be 60 giggers bragging about having a 60 and 40 giggers going around saying all the problems are with the 60's. A weird kind of underlined division we're seeing. Problems arise with all the versions.
I never had a problem with my ps3 freezing and i did use a compressed air can once a month or as soon as i noticed dust on the vents. I'll let you know how sony handles my 60gig ps3 and i plan to test it with all of my ps2 games. It was weird how it happen, i played COD4 for about 2 hours one night and in the morning on the next day i turn it on and the fan starts then the yellow light came on and thats all it will do now. The guy from sony said that its a system hardware failure and most likely you will lose all of your saved data.

if you want to make sure, get a USB powered Antec Laptop Cooler. it will drop the temp of the PS3 by at least 20 degrees.
