I never had a problem with my ps3 freezing and i did use a compressed air can once a month or as soon as i noticed dust on the vents. I'll let you know how sony handles my 60gig ps3 and i plan to test it with all of my ps2 games. It was weird how it happen, i played COD4 for about 2 hours one night and in the morning on the next day i turn it on and the fan starts then the yellow light came on and thats all it will do now. The guy from sony said that its a system hardware failure and most likely you will lose all of your saved data.
