Forums - Gaming - There's A Strong Chance Silicon Knights Will Return To Eternal Darkness

I don't remember where, but I remember them saying something to the same extent in previous interviews. How they definitely want to return to the "Eternal Darkness" universe, but want to finish up their Too Human trilogy first.

And yeah, it would have to be Nintendo; I think they even own the rights to the Insanity System in the game or something ridiculous like that

Yeah, they actually *patented* the insanity effects, though iirc, the wording was so overly broad that it bordered on the laughable (even for some of the more outlandish ones out there).

When they were talking about "returning to ED universe", they didn't know what platform should it be made for, and they said that "ED universe" doesn't necessarily mean an Eternal Darkness game, but game in ED scenario (which SK owns). But, if they return to ED (IP) there's no doubt about the platform. Maybe Nintendo already have asked them to make the sequel.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

ED was awesome. I would instantly buy a new one.

@Avalach: Pics or it didn't happen

If I recall, there was a properly sourced rumor about 2 months ago that there would be a new "scary" game from SK on the Wii, and it was also heavily speculated to be ED2.

This seems to be shy of a confirmation, but in my mind it just crossed the "reasonable doubt" thresh-hold. I believe we will have ED2 on the Wii, and it will be announced late in the year.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Then again I suppose i can think of one loose end that would allow for a sequel...

A large pulsating one.

@Zen: SK said after ED release, that they would like to make the sequel, but Nintendo don't let them. I don't know would SK have wanted to make the game for other than Nintendo platform, or was there an idea of releasing it later, maybe save it for the next generation (because of it's sales or something like that) or why the sequel was prevented by Nintendo, but as Dyack has said, ED2 has a ready manuscript, they want to make a sequel and ED was planned to be a trilogy.

Hmm. I assume that Nintendo does own some sort of patent on this franchise, and I also assume that SK has no hatred for Nintendo, so I also think it's a reasonable assumption that if ED2 does exist, it will likely be released on a Nintendo system, or at least a version of the game will.  Afterall, its fanbase it largely Gamecube owners who are now Wii owners.

Then again, assumptions get me in trouble a lot.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Also, tangent, Kotaku posters disgust me. Anyone ever wished they could track down people from the internet and beat them up? I certainly do, everyday.

I was permabanned from Kotaku, btw. Several of the bloggers over there are really eliteist towards the Wii. Particularly Plunkett and Bashcraft. It's amazing how we get our news from "journalists" who either believed the NYT Wii story, or were biased enough to pretend like they believed it.

I never played the last one but I would probably buy it if they make a sequel
