Forums - Sales - Microsoft’s Xbox 360 sinking quickly in face of opposition from PS3 and Wii

- MS lead 5 month ago : 7.4 M !
- Actual gap behaviour : decreasing !

Neverthless, I dont like this sentence :
"It doesn’t take a genius to figure out if PS3 sales progress exactly the way they have been since launch"

PS3 sales were nothing but chaotic....

@kingofwale,

the more funny is that several starcraft's thread were taken from this website !

Only a rabid fanboy would call the X360 "sinking" when the truth is that the X360 has increased a whopping 40% in world-wide sales in 2008 compared to 2007.

libellule this was a very unneccessary thread.

.....well are you going to mention ps3's or wii's increase? or did you forget to pick those cherries?

I think the PS3 will continue to increase in sales as time goes on so yes the gap will be closing and quickly.

Good read....it is true though. With rising dev costs, their goign multiplatform, so it's up to the 1st party, and what does M$ have to offer in that department? I can't wait until starcraft gets unbanned, so I can see how he can possibly spin this.

@gebx
They squandered their lead not because of the numbers they're at currently, but because of the strategy they used to even get sales. It's backfiring now, and little by little, their marketshare is being eaten away. If they would have used their money to get more internal studios instead of moneyhatting every 3rd party to make former PS3 games go multiplatform, then they'd have more game recognition, other than Halo. The way it's looking, the 360 will be in same position as the original Xbox. Sure it may sell more, but relatively speaking, they'll be in the same boat

Just like Jack Tretton said "Nintendo relies too much on the 1st party, and M$ relies too much on the 3rd party....you should have a good mix, and not be slanted either way"

But no one was claiming they were sinking. We know those systems increased their sales. The point is that so did the 360.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Zing!

If you consider that the 360 operates practically on two major markets, while the PS3 operates on three, the 360 is still doing ok. Without Japanese sales, it's 18 mill versus 10.4 mill..

In the future the Metal Gear franchise may go multiplatform as well as Gears of War franchise as perdicted by Michael Pachter.

What??? As a side note, this guy really needs to use a spell checker.

LOL, well find

@Slimebeast

well, if you dont focus on the "sinking", it underligns something interesting : the first party support of MS is quite weak and may be a problem for them.

I have no problem at all mentioning the Wii's increase.  Stating Sony's success is a bit harder TBH...  but I never deny that Sony has an amazing 2008. But the topic and article was about X360 sinking which is just a Sony fanboy lie.
