=p Lolz Great to see you her aswell bro..

I still don't know how UMD made O12's list. I'll assume she meant the movies, not the games itself.

And then again, UMD movies weren't a failure, but the fact that the wrong movies came out on a platform targeted to teen males. It should have been more Adult Swim, Spike, MTV, etc shows, rather than chick flicks and whatnot.

But that's Sony's fault for not regulating it too much. But I still don't understand how that's a mistake.

For those saying "PS3 price is too high," that's exactly the same as saying "Blu Ray" or "PS3 too powerful." The PS3's power was the direct cause of the PS3's price. You can't drop the price without taking something out.

However, personally, I think Nintendo's handling of the Sony/Nintendo SNES CD was the worst mistake in the business, and also agree that the RRoD was huge.

its not like saying that because

a) it was too expensive.   and

b) it isnt too powerful.

A lot of that cost is in the formation of a new standard (blu-ray) and not in raw power.

wait, you think the Cell was developed for free?

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

omg, I can't believe nobody mentioned this:

ET the game for the Atari 2600.....lol its voted worst game in history and it suposedly almost bankrupted Atari lol

What is your list of the worst mistakes made in gaming? So many to choose from, but what is your list?

Mine is...

1. Virtual Boy
2. Nintendo saying "screw off" to third party developers with the N64.
3. Sega abandoning Saturn third party support in favor of forcing the Dreamcast.
4. Capcom disolving Clover Studios
5. Blu-Ray as the standard for the PS3
6. UMD

I know, not much of a list, but maybe you can do me one better.

Not a bad list. I would replace #5 with the nintendo power glove.

hd-dvd not being a standard on 360. huge mistake.
win vista ruined gaming on the pc.
ps2 online (what a joke)
home ( i predict)

If it would have been HD-dvd out the box, HD-dvd would be the winner.

XBox 360 = huge mistake. RROD issue + lack of internal HD DVD drive + lack of install game option onto HD

^360 without those mistakes would of had much higher sales by now, I assume around 35 million consoles sold LTD.

I disagree ...

I think the RROD was a major issue, and made noticeably worse because of how expensive the console was, and if Microsoft had prevented that from becomming such a large problem it would have benefitted the XBox 360. Adding a HD-DVD drive would have (probably) added $100 to $200 onto the retail price of the XBox 360 and would have made the system about as popular as a rash.

Where I think Microsoft dropped the ball is that they gimped the affordable XBox 360 ... It lacked the (desireable) wireless controller, and required a $50 "investment" in a sub par memory card to save your game; the combination of the two factors made the XBox 360 core model very undesirerable. Had microsoft built a 512k or 1GB flash memory card onto the motherboard of every XBox 360 (for save games), and made the wireless controller standard they would have been much more successful in selling the core model as a viable alternative.

1. PS3 high pricetag
2. Sonys arrogance ( mostly towards 3rd party developers )
3. Q3/4 2006 for the PSP ( with absolutly no solid 1st party backup during Christmas )
4. Nintendos decision to stick with carts ( N64 )
5. Nintendos lack of focus towards online gaming ( GC )
6. Segas Dreamcast ( yes I blame the DC for being way to powefull for 98 )
7. Sonys support of the Atrack 3 and not Mp3 format ( thus loosing the portable audio war in front of Apple and giving them a chance to enter the gaming market )
8. Naughty Dog/Insomniac IP sales after the 5th gen
9. Capcom going anti-exclusive
10. Wiis strong first party that potentially kills quality 3rd party games :)

These are my top 10 mistakes . I wont include consoles like the N-gage or Gizmondo , because they didnt changed the face of the gaming , or gaming industry . Most of the above mentioned did , or potentially could ...

Which is one of the examples I gave. You think Blu Ray is the problem? Okay, no problem, then Blu Ray is the problem. As I said, saying "PS3 price is too high" is the same as saying "Blu Ray" or "PS3 too powerful." You chose the latter.

Blu-ray was not a mistake. It won the format war. It was a brilliant descision.
