256MB system RAM for PS3. Yes, yes, I know the video RAM can be accessed but what would 256MB more have cost for the system. 512 system/256 video split would resolve many issues devs are having with current gen systems. It would also have provided a larger performance/visual delta with the xbox360.

Ironically Sony is one of the few companies that could have bankrupted themselves from success. Look at the PS3, it was ideal for them to have not sold as many as was expected. Otherwise they could have lost DOUBLE what they did on the PS3. Remember it cost $800 for a $500 system.

Tease.

I think the 2 biggest mistakes in gaming are Sony and MicroSoft thinking they'll survive Wii Fit.

OH DAMN.

Oh for crying out loud Montanna... DVD had been out well before the PS2 emerged and was the much desired successor to the much flawed VHS format. VHS being the bigger seller up until 2003 (assuming that's even true) doesn't mean anything other than DVD players were expensive, thus, surprise surprise, the PS2 was not only a DVD player but a gaming device all in one. I know I had a PS2 before my house ever had a DVD player and I imagine it was much the same for alot of people.

PS2 launched with DVD already established and growing, for the price of a good DVD player, you could get a PS2, it was a fucking win win.

PS3 launched with not only with Blu-Ray a feshly released and unproven format but with HD formats as a whole uproven. Blu-Ray was in the midst of a fevered format war with HD-DVD and to this day the benefits of HD formats are still arguable at best. DVD was a step towards utility & convenience over a severly outdated predicessor, it was a no brainer. Blu-Ray is only a step towards luxury and will never be the revolution to DVD that DVD was to VHS.

1. HD Gaming concept as a whole

It's not an equal step, but it's still a step forward worth investing in. The PS3 is now a "fucking win win" since the PS3 caused the war to end. The biggest convenience for Blu-ray is that, unlike CDs and DVDs, it can't be scratched. Skips and disc read errors should be mostly forgotten.

Right, so PC games that came out 10 years ago were too high in resolution? Do you use a PC in 640x480? I'm wlling to bet you typed that ignorant claim in HD and just don't know what HD means.

HD gaming and computers with hi-def monitors are a little different. Try sitting 2 feet away from anything displaying 480p, very hard on the eyes. Computer monitors went "HD" out of necessity. However i do agree that the statement is a little brash.

Games on PC have been "HD" since 1024x768. That's a long time ago.

Well then I assume you were being sarcastic before, because otherwise you are saying we shouldn't have any PC game in the last decade or any PS3 or 360 game.
