Am I the only one on the page that doesn't see the whole amazing graphics thing? After seeing so much footage behind MGS4, Killzone 2, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, that supposed Grid footage (demo looks nothing like that sadly x.x), and all these big hitting titles, this looks kinda bland :x And if we think this is running on one of those sick PC's well then flat out call me un-impressed :/ I mean I guess it's pretty good for a sandbox game, but amazing isn't quite what I'd call this. Maybe it's the complete lack of amazing effects that's killing it for me, I dunno.

I agree. It looks good, but nothing that blows me away. I think KZ2 looks better (not that I am saying it's going to be a good game).

Granted you can't compare a sandbox game to a FPS with a single path, but then again I am not the one that said "best graphics this generation".

Personally,  I expect the best graphics this generation to come from an exclusive. KZ2, MGS, Gears2, God of War 2, GT5 or what I think will look the best for any game...

You can build $500 PC that will play Crysis on High Settings, much better than PS3 and 360 ever could

Not likely. Not when it came out not even now. Someone in this thread said that Call of Duty4 looked better on PC than on 360 (or PS3 I suppose).

The answer is: Yes it does but the difference is so small that you most likely won't notice it while playing. Some shadows and textures are more detailled, some effects nicer. But overall you get comparable graphics on a 200$ 360 or a 400$ PS3 with included BluRay player (I suppose PS3 and 360 are identical) as on a PC with a 300$ graphic card. The biggest difference seems to be that the PS3 version has higher brightness.

In the end you get awesome and only 3 years ago unthinkable graphics on PS3, 360 and PC. Call of Duty looks SO great on all three of these. Yes a highend PC is the most powerful of the three but the other two provide great graphics as well.

$500 Gaming PC Plays Crysis on High

And COD4 is in a very different situation than Crysis, since COD4 actually isn't a great looking game and is not better looking than Crysis on medium settings.

Sorry but you don't need a highend PC to play COD4 on highest settings. Not even close. Hell, you probably can build a PC cheaper than a PS3 and max COD4 PC graphics.

Technically this might just be the best but the style... Meh. I mean, it's good but nothing too original. Of course realistic and original are difficult things to fit together. Personally I think Uncharted has better style. It simply looks amazing. Then again, I'd say it's just an opinion. Some will surely find another game fitting them better.

I dunno I mean it's not terrible graphics, it's just this game seems to have no sense of style, Uncharted used these awesome hues of color, the jungles looked so amazing, Gears of war used some insane shades of gray, but all these games had some stellar effects that broke your eyes off the amazing graphics and kinda sorta refreshed the view constantly, I mean at first glance the environmental detail looks kinda nice in the trailer above, but watching it as a whole, the game looks entirely multi-plat :x

I completely agree that the best looking game on a console this generation will be an exclusive, theres no way in hell it will go to a multi-plat lol.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

I'm a graphics whore, and that video just isn't doing it for me...

The framerate also looks extremely choppy, which might just be the recording of the video, or perhaps the engine is still in early stages, but it certainly doesn't give a good impression.

As far as I'm concerned KZ2 looks a lot better.

Ha, I remember when I used an 8400GS to play CoD4 on high settings. Looked pretty good actually but I wasn't blown away.

Well, this trailer begins with mostly savannah scenery where you attack camps, footage that is very similar to Crysis, and not very jaw-dropping.

I say, If you haven't yet, give it another chance. Because there are a few seconds of amazing graphics in the trailer. You can't in the link to the clip above, but if you watch it at Gametrailers you can see the time-mark, check at 1:30 the beautiful panorama scans, and at 2:10 a few seconds of an incredible jungle and then the small village by the water.

Didn't Crytek say that they have Crysis running on 360 comparable to PC High settings? And a 360 costs 200$. Taken with a grain of salt.

since COD4 actually isn't a great looking game

Seriously thats out. Call of duty4 is one of the best looking games this gen. It can hold its own against Crysis on high quite well.

The point is PC games do not have significantly better graphics than console games at this point in the console life-cycle. Only few games like Crysis can target the 5% of PCs that are a class or two more powerful than the actual consoles. The rest has to run well on the average 2year old gaming PC which results in at best higher resolution and more antialiasing and slightly higher textures than the console version. Consoles will run along quite well for a while. They simply have some big advantages:
A homogenous development environment where you can optimize the graphics for a specific hardware.
Some architecture enhancements perfect for gaming like a gigantic bandwidth between CPU and GPU and for the PS3 integration of the Cell CPUs as really advanced shaders.
And the possiblity to use low-level APIs and optimize for hardware instead of using DirectX for everything three abstraction layers above.

Yes high-end PCs are more powerful and games look better. Yes the divide will get bigger.

But to say that console games look much worse than PC games at this point is hyperbole. All three platforms have awesome graphics.

@Slimebeast, oh the panoramic shots looked fine lol, but I want to see the in-game. Panning through a jungle or by a river is fine and all, but when he was running around and shooting it was like wtf? They looked like entirely different games, and that really bothers me :x

Depends on the console...
