Mario 64 DS was a very different game compared to Mario 64. I would say includign the two together is about as valid as counting Yellow and Red/Green/Blue Pokemon together. The character changing mechanis were entirely unheard of, the cap system was completely changed, a multiplayer aspect was tacked on, and there was a lot of new levels added. The game was closer to a remake than a port,

For having played the game through 140 stars I would say that it's more of a port with added bonus than a remake. There are no new levels only mini-levels each containing 2 stars and an unlockable character. The 15 stars added to the regular levels are lazy (collect 5 silver stars or step on the switch). I think it's a good port but that's definitely not a remake.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Wow has over 10 million active subscribers last time I checked.

Starcraft was like 9.5 million last I checked aswell so it could be over 10 million by now.

well organized and displayed

Where did you get 8.9? VGC numbers add up to 8.75M

Game that's getting jacked in the face by my current rules: SMB2USA. Sold 7.5M for NES, sold 10.5M for SNES as part of SM All-Stars, and sold 5.5M on Super Mario Advance. But SMA was actually a compilation of SMB2USA and the original (non-Super) Mario Bros.

BTW: WoW active subscribers includes bulk subscriptions from cafes in Korea and the like. So sales could actually be below subscriptions, though I expect the game has actually sold 10M.

And I'm pretty sure the 9.5M for Starcraft includes sales of the expansion pack. The same is true for some of the ridiculous numbers floating around for the Sims and Sims 2.

And as for the Sims console versions, I'm under the impression they are actually the same game, just crippled.

Starcraft! If you don't believe Blizzard then trust that Korea bought enough copies to make it 10 million =)

Anyway, I appreciate this list. I would like it if bundled copies could be removed or at least have a seperate list, but that data might be hard to get except for Wii Sports.

Another great list wuld be revenue generated from a game, similar to what people do for movies. I've always found it odd that $30 games for DS count the same as $50 Wii games and $60 PS3/360 games.

Considering that Pokemon Yellow was actually called "Special Pikachu Edition," maybe I should consider the third iterations of each generation as special editions.

After all, I might as well take the most liberal rules which are still defendable, and then if people want to see what the list looks like other ways, all they have to do is subtract--not search the database.

I encourage others to type up top 10-20 lists with different sets of rules just to get them in the thread here. I can stick them in the second post up there.

I'll have an update up in a few minutes...

They have around 5 million western subscriber's active today. I find it highly unlikely that 3 years into the game that half the people who have ever bought it are still around. At a similar point in its life span Everquest had 500k subscribers but over 2 million copies sold. That ratio almost certainly won't hold up, but it gives you an idea of what MMO sales look like compared to active subscribers.
