I bought a classic controller for one reason. SNES VC games.

The diagonal line up of ABXY buttons on the original SNES controller meant you could hold one top row button while pressing a lower button or it's adjacent partner, so a lot of SNES games were designed with that layout configuration in mind.

Tried to play it on a gamecube controller and it just didn't mesh or feel right. Classic controller rectified that uncomfort. Funny too, how the employee selling me the classic controller was trying to convince me to go with a wavebird. A little annoyed, I didn't bother to explain how I bought it for the SNES VC games.

When I managed a Gamestop, at one point I stockpiled 16 Wavebirds. After giving full sets of 4 to my brother and nephew, I am now down to 8.

Take a guess as to which I'd recommend...

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.

classic.

Wavebird is a great controller and really comfortable. however, it sucks to use on NES and SNES games. The button layout really messes with SNES games.

I got the Wavebird,
because I do not have any SNES games.
If, down the road, I get some SNES games, I will get the Classic Controller.
