This should have come with Halo 3 to really make a difference.

this is old news guys especially the Jasper CPU. Rock on do some research on the Opus and Valhalla chipsets if u do not already know about them. Opus is the Falcon CPU built into a Xenon case. Valhalla is the CPU/GPU on one chip: 2009 release. Anyway, concerning BR, MSFT should build more on Live infrastructure, ie more server farms in more locations instead of pulling a Sega route--we all know how the Genesis add-ons turned out.

Who is going to buy a new sony console if it released in August. PS3 jus came out and its like 450? a new sony console wouldn't be cheeper and everyone loves to complain how the ps3 is expensive. same goes for MS. the market would be over saturated. besides the economy is not going that well in America, jobs are being lost and all economies are linked so expect this to be a world wide depression same stuff happened in the 1930's. Thats why consoles exept for the wii are selling like crap and the one reason ppl buy wii's are because of the price being so affordable( not ripping on wii fans, i own one, its great just saying its more affordable then the PS360) so i would expect the the sales of all consoles to slow down for a while as well as software, GTA IV being an exeption because God made it.
so in summary any console released in Summer 09 would flop |
I never expected anyone to think that I thought a new xbox360 would come out this year. Oh yea I dont think its the repeat of the great depresson just yet, maybe a little better than the 80's depresson/crash would be apropriate. Still theres no proof yet that America will actually have a depression and not just a few quarters of recession. But in anycase, entertainment is quite resiliant in depressions... especially if the Wii is $150-200 and the 360 is $200-250 and the PS3 is god knows what $1-399? People would stay in to entertain themselves which is conductive to reasonable console sales especially for the Wii..
Since no proof of depression then your last statement cant be held as true.

lol i didnt mean the depression to the extent to the 30's its just the one most known so ppl could relate to it. As for evidence no i dont have any because i listen to alot of talk radio, but most economist are projecting one soon and supposedly its suppossed to last longer then 2 years because of the home foreclosers still need to be settled and costs of living are going up along with oil so ppl are gonna think twice before buying luxury items because thats what consoles are, btw you seem like preety cool guy imma sent a friend request.
hmm, between a PS3 and an X360 with blu-ray, which would i buy? interesting question. without blu-ray, it's PS3 hands-down. with blu-ray... it gets interesting because i've heard good things about XBox Live.
chances are i won't get either but if blu-ray becomes dominating i'll have to choose between one of them. clearly i won't be buying a standalone blu-ray player when an extra hundred bucks could get me a game console.
the Wii is an epidemic.
o yea as for entertainment 200 bucks would be way to much, that could pay a gas bill, and on top of that games for 50 bucks, i think ppl would go to other sources for entertainment like music, because i no when i'm feeling emotional songs usually cheers me up.

I hope it does get used for games. There could be two versions of some games, one supplied on scratch resistant Blu-Ray disc and the other version on mulitple DVDs for big linear games. For those developers who think DVD just wouldn't cut it for their game, like for an open world game such as GTA V (when you drive from one location and back it's no joy swapping discs twice or more times) they could only release a Blu-Ray version, again pushing many current owners to upgrade. The few XBox Elite owners I know, owned another 360 version before this, they upgraded to the Elite in the hope it was free of hardware issues and some additional features like a HDMI port. At least someone I know has such a big 360 games library he would certainly buy it if just proven to be more far more sturdy.
For the PS3 this would IMO be good news, more games developers will to take into account Blu-Ray benefits like sustained predictable reading speeds throughout discs. This would result in much better and optimised off disc streaming games. A default harddrive for at least Blu-Ray equipped 360s (storage is required for the latest specs) would also be very beneficial. More demanding games could always assume a harddrive being present.

It is better for developers to make games on two platforms with Blu-Ray capabilities than solely make Blu-Ray games on the PS3 alone.

Its a very nice concept. One that would benifit both the Xbox owners that purchased it, the cost and availability of blu ray movies - A definate Sony win there, and Sony PS3 owners. Its certainly possible to do but i'll let you make up your own mind. They would have to duplicate valuable retail space It would induce some confusion with customers as far as naming and presenting the titles go There would be an outcry by Xbox360 owners and a lot of annoying PS3 fanboys will say "I told you so" and we'd never hear the end of it. The market share may not justify it - If there are only 5 million Blu ray X360's then whats the point of making a third port to take advantage of another set of capabilities? Granted it would be a cheap port but you've then got extra headaches to worry about with supply of the different versions. Look at how often the Pro SKU went out of stock for instance. They dont even take advantage of the HDD much for the Xbox360 consoles! Granted games like GTAIV do stream off it when available but still, its something Microsoft seems reluctant to allow. Though this restriction may come to an end at some point. There are certainly advantages to it, but there are also disadvantages and its questionable as to whether or not they would go down that path. Ok the Nintendo 64 had an upgrade, and that made things work better but im not sure how many people took advantage of it. Did the PSP have a hardware upgrade? I can't remember.
