Forums - Gaming - Sony Innovators? Yea....ok

You made an account to preach to Sony fanboys?
Well, I suppose there have been more redundant efforts in the world.
Don't get me wrong; I largely agree with your points, but this is like mooning Ray Charles, fun in theory but in the end all in vain.

Is the eyetoy somewhat innovating?

Nintendo had a variation of online before Microsoft. Sega had actual online before Microsoft

I do think Sony was the first to implement dual analog sticks, though nintendo was the first to implement an actual analog stick.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

I do not think that any attempt at online was as large as Microsoft with XBL. Think about it from a content standpoint and you will understand what I meant. I may have been overly objective in my original post and am sorry.

1. Motion sensing did not begin with the wii, you could use motion controls like the Wii on the Sega Dreamcast with the fishing rod using it for both tennis and the fishing game on Dreamcast. So, if Sony ripped off Nintendo, Nintendo ripped off Sega. Sony's use of motion control is not like the other consoles though. It is used very little unless you want to play games like warhawk and lair with it on, it also does not use the controller of the same form.

2. Home button was on PSP before it was on the Xbox 360.

3. Seriously, what are they supposed to do? come up with another way of communicating over a game besides text messaging, voice chat. Come up with another way to download content other than an online store that is feasible. and once again MS copied the idea of online from the Sega Dreamcast and yes i do think sony would have attempted online this gen, if MS had never been around. Now PS2 online, i don't think that would have ever happened.

4. Rumble no doubt was a rip off of N64. However, Sony improved the idea of the analog stick and the dual analog stick was something that was never done on a console til then. D-Pad and shoulder buttons. Once again, what are they going to do, because whatever else they would have done would have probably flopped hardcore, espeically if you are having to revert back to using only 1990s technology.

5. No clue about this one.

As people have mentioned, the PSP was the first ever games machine to have a Home button.
I wouldn't call Sony "innovators" but to say they haven't done anything innovative at all is.........stoopid.

Using discs instead of cartridges back in the early 90's wasnt innovative? Using discs that dont limit developers is not innovative? What has the 360 done to be innovative? Online, nope dreamcast had that first.

2 analog sticks for the controller , first successfull CD using console and online enabled gaming PCs exist from the early 90s ( so no they didnt rip off MS or Sega )

Also every single PS console was credited during their launch as a high end gadget , and it was a pure gaming machine , so no innovation was really needed ( exception is the PSP which can be considered as a PMP to ) .

Now the real genius comes from their game development teams . ICO , SotC , Ecochrome , R&C are all true examples of what their teams can do ...

No.  It's a ripoff of the "Dream Eye" for Dreamcast.
