Forums - Sales Discussion - Some Korean Numbers

There's no way 360 sold 150k, more like xbox & x360 combined.

Why do you say that? I don't think the original Xbox even launched in Korea.

My memory failed me slightly. Last 360 & PS3 numbers I had seen were through August 2007:

PS2: 1331k
PSP: 315k
360: 136k
NDS: 128k
PS3: 5k

Korea is the fourth column (Taiwan is the fifth column):

That would mean since August 360 has only sold 14k in Korea, and PS3 sold 45k. Average of 1750/month for 360, and 5625/month for PS3 since then. NDS has really taken off in Korea. We can see it's a big PC gaming market, and big handheld market too, but when it comes to home consoles, it's not as big as it could be.

PS2 has sold over 1m, but not 2m. NDS is probably closing in fast on PS2 now.

Just an FYI about those numbers: they're shipped as far as I can remembe.

Koreans buy 360s because they actually have a good bit on online intergrated into them, whereas the PS3 and others aren't so prominent with their online features. Look at what games koreans play - MMOs, Multiplayer games, ect. It's only natural that their console(s) of choice reflect that.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

wtf@360 numbers, koreans buying american products? does not compute.

Well we buy $billions of South Korea's products ever year, it's not too much to ask that they buy a few 360s.

it doesn't have to do with what country it is from, it has to do with the games. What kind of games do Koreans like?  #1 FPS, #2 MMO/RPGS (diablo or world of warcraft are good examples), #3 strategy games.  It's pretty clear why the 360 is popular in Korea.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Here are some more korean numbers

I don't believe you! What next, Gamecube never release in Korea!!!

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not, but the Gamecube wasn't released in Korea.

Anyone got Starcraft numbers for Korea? I'm guessing 5M+
