I believe this christmas season my be the perfect time for nintendo to start releaseing their players choice titles. this would be politically the right move, already a number of titles have sold over a million copies world wide.

 to release them as players choice titles just before the christmas, will beoth show sales strength of Wii's titles (10 of them are even 3rd party titles), and boost the sales of some titles that really deserved to sell more (cough-Metroid Prime 3-cough!). granted some of these titles like Mario Kart & SSBB are to new to the market for nintendo to consider them for players choice as soon christmas and I have intetntionally left WiiFit and Wiiplay off this list, as both of thier selling points is coming with some kind of controller (would you buy Wiiplay without the Wii-mote? at any price?) and players choice would put an end to that (remember the rumble Pak?). also doing this just before christmas would be perfect, just when people are strapped for cash and looking for good games.

I think the Wii has to be out a little longer to get the Players Choice on the game covers. Probably after 3 years, or the sales were in a steady decline at that time.

Well I wish they would also. Not only for the Wii but for the DS to. I haven't seen any players choice titles for it either. (Though I could be wrong) But between the two (DS and Wii) if you were going to see player's choice titles by christmas it'd be on the DS since it's been out longer. The Wii needs another year or two at least for Player's choice titles.

However, I don't think games like Strikers or Mario party ever go to Players Choice, they usually go from full price to out of print. That's why older Mario Party and Mario Sports titles from GC & N64 still sell used for a premium. Ialso don't think they would do both Rayman games (but I could be wrong).

I noticed some people think it's too early for this, I disagree. I think Wii software would explode this Christmas if Nintendo did this, and DS could use a similar startegy as well. I don't think it will happen this year though, the strategy will probably be to sell different games at full price instead of moving a lot of older titles on the cheap. But we'll see.

Maybe in 2 years and only if sales have really slowed down.

Yeah, for me this is what keeps me from jumping onto a console early, the expensive games, i will not spend $50 for any game, i wait for them to hit $20. So i guess i better go back to playing Devil May Cry 1 for PS2, just got it for $8 used.

Sales are still strong for games, that you've mention, maybe they would do player's choice this christmas, on some games

didn't they once say they doubt they ever would and certainly dont plan to because they feel the wii and it's games price are good value as it is?

I wonder If Nintendo will keep the qualifications from the GCN Player's Choice and give a title the honor once it sells over 250,000 units, or go back to the N64 days and give the title only if it passes the 1 million mark.

Well if they kept it at the GameCube's 250k then even Zack & Wiki & No More Heroes would be eligible. Somehow I think they will raise the amount for the Wii. It was ! million on SNES & n64.
