The mod who banned a person is always stated in their profile, so in the future, please PM DKII or whichever mod did the banning if you have a problem with it.

I never knew that at the time of posting and if i di i still would have made this post anyway because i still would have wanted to see other people views about the ban and if it was justified.

don;t post something like this again or else you will be at the end of my ban hammer.

Why mods are threatening us when we question bans now? Isn't that the reason that banned people posts are appearing now? So we can judge if a ban is fair?

Isn't the first time it happened, looks like a dictatorship.

This is a dictatorship, just because it is on the internet doesn't mean you have any say in how the site is run. ioi is kind enough to listen to what the users have to say, but it is still his site.

Ding Ding!

This is absolutely a dictatorship, these people are put in charge and what they say goes. We have no recourse and the reason people continue to come & post is because we have reasonable overlords who don't abuse their power (too much ).

You can debate them in a topic the same as anyone else, the only difference is that they have the added responsibility of swinging down the ban hammer on those who get out of hand. In the case of CaptainPreference he had it coming for a lot more than just that post, in fact I think I counted 3 other posts that were ban worthy given his history as a troll on the site.

Ironically I was reporting him for one of those other posts as DKII was banning him, and I PM'd DKII hoping he would extend the ban...which he didn't because he is a nice overlord.  You don't see me making a thread about each offense and wanting people's opinions about whether he should have been banned longer...so why should we have the opposite?

If you have a problem just PM the mod, they are quite reasonable if you are.

Oh really? Then why the thread was locked and the creator was threatened with a ban? And it's not the first time i see it happening.

I don't care to captainpreferences, a mod threatened the creator of the topic who didn't even offended somebody, he just wanted to know why captainpreferences was banned and i think it's fair since the ban reason is misleading.

And you don't need to make a thread about each offense, but why not point out when you find a ban unfair? The creator of the thread thought captainpreferences was banned solely for being a sony fanboy.

I remember when ioi started showing the content of banned people posts to everyone, he said it was for we to have the right to judge if a ban is fair or not.

@nordlead

Sorry, by dictatorship i meant abusing power, and even if there wasn't power abuse it wouldn't be a democracy :P

 Kirby?!  You're back!

In all seriousness, you don't have to create these threads.  If I have an issue with a ban, I see no reason to take it up with anyone else but the mod.  Nor do I care to see other people always bring up their issues with a ban.

@Flow, this is a privately owned site.  Certainly the owner and who he gives power to moderate have say on what happens.  I'm not sure why anyone would think a privately owned site should be a democracy.

I personally felt as though the second ban imposed on Captainpreferences was uncalled for. OK he had 3 quasi-bannable posts, but he had been back for minutes. Maybe he was just unlucky to get pissed off 3 times consecutively and in quick succesion.

Then again I have felt as though quite a few bans have been brutal relative to the offence.

I guess a good example of this is Kirbys permaban. I'm sure a week ban and a short sharp message threatening further punishment would have been more suffice. Unless you did that of course, not allowing you any other course of justice.

I'll say the same thing i said to nordlead but allow me to be clearer

I am not saying this is a democracy.

And now allow me to copy and past so this time someone may get my point...

I guess obislut is the misinformed one.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

well the reasoning behind th ebann needs to be changed then because it is misleading, and if everyone on this site got banned jst for saying they are a fanboy or bashin another console dare would be hardly no1 left.

Oh really? Then why the thread was locked and the creator was threatened with a ban? And it's not the first time i see it happening.

Why the thread was re-opened is perhaps a better question...it might have something to do with the fact that I was right.

I don't care to captainpreferences, a mod threatened the creator of the topic who didn't even offended somebody, he just wanted to know why captainpreferences was banned and i think it's fair since the ban reason is misleading.

Your argument makes it sound like the thread should have been re-opened...hmmm...you mean it was?  So what are you complaining about?

And you don't need to make a thread about each offense, but why not point out when you find a ban unfair? The creator of the thread thought captainpreferences was banned solely for being a sony fanboy.

You can point out when you think a ban is unfair, send a PM to the mod.  Simple really.

I remember when ioi started showing the content of banned people posts to everyone, he said it was for we to have the right to judge if a ban is fair or not.

Again the thread is open so what is your complaint?  And BTW do you have a link to where ioi said that?  I doubt ioi said the members are the judge, I would bet he was saying that members should be able to know why someone was banned(probably so you learn from the mistake)...but if you think members have a say in it you're just wrong.
