Forums - Nintendo - What do u feel when new Prince of Persia wasnt in the Wii?

Our only hope was E3 and Nintendo hyped Disaster Day of Crisis and revived Project HAMMER and hoping for Kid Icarus to be announced, that way, core developers will not be afraid to work on Wii when these three games will be a million seller.

I don't think this really matters.   Developers believe that "hardcore" games don't sell on the Wii and/or that only Nintendo games really sell on the Wii.  More success on Nintendo's end isn't going to motivate developers.

Ubisoft is a louzy developer on the Wii (they managed to butcher Far Cry, c'mon!), so I don't really care.

According to some, every developer that chooses not to put its game on the Wii is a lousy developer...

Some developers probably do believe that "Hardcore" games don't sell on the Wii, but I don't think that belief is particularly widespread ... Even on the PS2, it takes a long time to develop a lot of these high quality hardcore games which are lacking on the Wii and (with the initial doubt about its potential sales) these games did not start development before the Wii was launched; for the most part this E3 and TGS would be the first time when a "Hardcore" Wii game that began development after the system launched would be ready to demo.

Ubisoft released quite a few titles on the Wii, it's not the amount of games that are lacking. But when your developers are able to make Far Cry a bad game (Far Cry Vengeance on the Wii), then something's very wrong. Red Steel wasn't that good too, last Prince of Persia was mediocre on the Wii, Rayman was ok for its type, but its sequel sucked also, and don't get me started on all those Catzzzz and Dogzzzz games.

Ubisoft just can't make a good game for the Wii to save their life. Which is really disappointing, because Ubisoft in general is an excellent developer. They even said they wanted to make "Nintendo-like quality games". Well, Ubisoft: go for it!

Red Steel was also a launch title.  How many 3rd party devs were making those anyway?  I don't think I've played any of Ubisoft's Wii games actually so I can't speak for quality.   All I know is that every time I see a "X developer is not developing for the Wii" there's always some people who will think that's a good thing when in reality fewer games coming to the Wii is anything but a good thing.

With growing userbase of Wii right now i think 3rd party developers will submit to work on Wii anyway, or else, suffer on what happened to Japan. Gaming was dead there just look at the weeky sales of all three consoles especially the PS3. But Nintendo is profiting anyway with Wiifit and the Wii and there flagship titles like Mario Kart Wii and SSBB.even japanese developers are developing for western audience now but what if the fate of Japan will also happened to other western countries like U.S.A. ? I think 3rd parties must accept the fact, the video game audience wether core or casual gamers like the Wii. The worldwide weekly sales prove it, if they will not submit the video game audience might aswell play handhelds, just like what happened to japan.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Everyone says that.  They've been saying it for months now.  "Oh yeah, developers are going to see the Wii's sales and begin putting tons of games on it."  Well guess what, the Wii has been selling like wildfire for months and it's still not happening.  Big name games are still going to the PS360 and the Wii is still getting all the scraps.

Continue saying it though.  Shouting at the rain is a great solution.

^ Yeah, thats true, but Im not talking about the developers though, Im talking about the gaming market. Every week the sales of HD consoles are dwindling especially the 360. Even PS3 surpass the 360 on its weekly sales, but sadly I never seen HD consoles pass 300, 000 consoles weekly unless there a hyped gamed like GTA IV.

It only means that the market developers thats working on are shrinking. The Wii was still on top even without AAA games thats a bad sign... Atleast Nintendo have profit on what theyre doing I dunno about the third party developers and SONY and M$ if theyre profiting with these "core" gamers.

Well, for having such good third party support PS3 is having, I don't think the games is selling so good. Maybe it will get better after GTA4 gamers wants something more and the PS3 install base has gown, but still.

In good and bad, looks like many hardcore titles that will come to Wii will be brand new unproven titles and type of games which might be hit and miss as publishers are unsure if they want to put their main game series on Wii, especially the main games of a series and at the same time brand new studios and smaller studios wants to try their hands at making hardcore games for Wii.

Bionic Studios being the latest new studio that wants to play with the Wii, and a brand new studio at that.

And if PoP comes to Wii, I hope the developers think of stuff that would be to hard doing without Wiimote and Nunchuk controls. I want to hear people say "that's just insane how that game works and how you move him around" instead of something with the graphics.
