I didn't know T2 even had that much money to spend on one game... It's no wonder they're not doing so well; they're throwing money down drain.

Well they got $50 million (loaned?) from Microsoft.

Still, there's no way the game should have cost that much money to make. That's just poor management on their part. How do you expect to make money when you're blowing 100m on one game? That's 5-10 high-budget HD game's all spent on developing one game.

Having sales blowing everything else out of the water? Getting a bigger cut, because neither MS nor Sony will get fees (pretty likley?).

Trust me - SONY and M$ both still are getting thier cut ... you didn't think they'd let Take-2 get away with no royalty fees unless the gmae was an exclusive ... hell it took a $50 million loan from M$ for them to get exclusive DLC --> imagine the cost for the entire game ...

damn thats a lot of money

This could be possible. In many regards this is a great investment by Rockstar.

Remember crucially that GTA4 - part 2 (/ e.g equivalent of GTA3: Vice City) is going to cost much less than GTA4. History would also suggest that GTA4 - part 2 and GTA4 - part 3 will also go on to sell more than GTA4 - part 1.

GTA4 is going to sell well over 10 million copies and make Rockstar / EA, MS and Sony a lot of money. Assuming fairly that it will track above Halo 3's initial sales based on the expanded 360 install base and the entire PS3 install base. GTA4 will sell comfortable over 6 million copies in its first 4 weeks and could conceivably hit 8-10 million within that time frame (1/3 of userbase coupled with people buying a 360 / PS3 entirely for GTA4).

I guess they won't earn more than 6-8 dollars a game

The game sells for 60$ I am pretty sure they make more than 6-8$ a game.

That's 5-10 high-budget HD game's all spent on developing one game.

Yes and they will sell 10-20 times as much as the average high budget game so it seems to be a good investment.

Shenmue cost 70 million :o WTF , I knew it was expensive but thats just way to much . At least we know why the DC floped :P

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

They'll be covering the development cost from the revenue the game makes. Any profit will come off DLC and expansions / sequels / spinoffs.

I've heard that Too Human has cost around $100 mil so far. I don't doubt it, the games been in development for about a decade.

Wait, is this actually 1000 people full, or part time? Turns out Brawl had less than 20 full timers.
