Let's see, what an be removed...

The screen for sure, the batteries in the 3 parts too. Then there's the magnetic attachments for the joycons. But pretty much everything else in the joycons is also in a controller, and if it's wireless, it also needs a battery, so you can't cut the batteries from the joycons as cost then either.

Next and most obviously, the dock, though the extra connections in the dock must then be moved into the console. Still, that's gonna be a nice cust-cutting feature.

The console can then be much smaller, but I don't think it can become as small as in the picture below as I fear it needs a bigger PCB. Either way, I believe the cost-cutting from just he reduced size to be minimal. At least the Kickstand can be saved...

All in all, I tally those up to about $120. So yeah, that thing would still cost $399, and if the memory and storage prices keep increasing, probably even more.

Supposedly the estimated for the Screen on the Switch 2, is around $25-40 (that was at release, inflation ect).
Also the battery inside a Switch 2 and the joycons, are much more costly than ones needed for like a "pro controller".
Not to mention a pro controller is probably cheaper than joycons+ controller grip.

Why would a home console need a kickstand? that would be saved as well.

I'm thinking closer to 200$, total maybe.
There is something to be said for smaller units and shipping costs, less parts, ect ect.
It will all add up.

Screens are one thing that are still mostly getting cheaper, hence why TVs still get bigger. I counted about $40 for this, so the top of the range to be sure.

As for the battery, the equivalent battery for the controller would be about the same size as the ones for both joycons combined, so you save the battery of the console itself. As for it's price, well, you can find 5000mAh batteries on Amazon for less than 10 bucks and even better models are still less than 20, so removing that battery won't be that big of a cost saver. I counted $10 for the battery.

Controller is probably cheaper to produce than joycons, and I counted $15 towards this.

For the dock, I counted another $40, and add to this $5 for the smaller form factor and $10 for the simpler internal design (due to not having to cram everything into an odd shape to get around things like the battery or SoC fans) and other small savings like the smaller hull, smaller packaging and so on.

Summa Summarum you'll get $120 in savings. It may be a bit more, but I wouldn't go past $140, let alone $200.

Oh, and the bolded part was that they could save the cost of making a kickstand with a home console, think you misunderstood me there. But that saving would be like $1...
