metroid prime (gc) >  metroid (wii)  ?

 

i was just kind of unimpressed with the wii one.  it had a couple of nice things but on the whole i just thought the gamecube one was better.

I actually wasn't a huge fan of the MP games on the GC while I loved MP on the Wii.

I don't know if it was the controls or the fact I didn't have to backtrack nearly as much but I just loved MP on the Wii and couldn't stand the ones on the Gamecube.

I'll tell you what....if Nintendo/Retro release Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime: Echoes on the Wii...I will agree with you that they are superior to Corruption. As it stands now, though.....They're all equal in my book.

No. I hated the controls on MP1. MP3 had pretty good controls.

As to the original poster, I enjoyed the novelty and world of the first one better, but the controls in Corruption and the "warp points" make the two about equal in my book.

I prefer Metroid Prime over Metroid Prime 3 as an overall game. Prime 1 did it first and really raised the bar for a lot of games. I prefer the controls of Prime 3, but Prime 1's controls were very well done and worked wonderfully. Just because it didn't play like a FPS doesn't mean it's a bad or flawed controls scheme.

One thing I didn't like as much about Prime 3 was that there was less of a feeling of isolation in the game, which is a big part of Metroid for me. It felt a little too wide-open and exposed in that regard. Nothing game-breaking, as I'm not one for knee-jerk reactions, but it did diminish the experience a bit.

I agree that metroid prime in 2002 was better than metroid 3 in 2007...its 5 years later and a lot of things changed in those 5 years while the metroid series felt quite similar throughout. Once the novelty of the controller wore off I felt I was playing the same game...hence why i never finished it...

Same reason why I think Halo 2 is better than 3...both are great tho :)
