Forums - Sales - Predict lifetime sales for the big september games

Orbitals -
The Blood of Dawnwalker -
Onimusha: Way of the Sword -
Wolverine -
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave -
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter -
Control Resonant -
Silent Hill: Townfall -

We might not get actual numbers for all of them but we definitely will for some of them.

Around the Network

September/October is going to be a bloodbath with so many games all packed into a two-month block to get away from GTA6.

Control and Fire Emblem in particular I can see coming off worse for being stacked against so many other bigger games; FE for instance I can see selling say 2-3m in total.

Onimusha seems to be getting a decent amount of hype and could overcome the odds and sell several million over the long run.

Orbitals... I dunno, I really would love to see it succeed as it looks fantastic, but being a new IP squeezed into such a busy window, I can see it struggling too.

If Yoshi and Star Fox couldn’t crack one million… I’m a little worried about an $80USD Fire Emblem doing all too well especially during suh a packed season gor releases.

I wouldn’t worry. This is the Three Houses team I believe, so it will likely be well received with critics and players. Either way, Fire Emblem has never been a big seller but Nintendo has still kept the series going the whole time.

Orbitals - 5m
I think this will be Switch 2's It Takes 2

The Blood of Dawnwalker - 4m
sorry i don't know enough about- there is some hype so lets say 4m with it being PC driven

Onimusha: Way of the Sword - 5m
Initially put less but I think Capcom goodwill + multiplat with Switch2+ future discounts will get it to 5m

Wolverine - 20m
Almost put 15m but I think the Xmen/Avengers boost will be huge. GTA in general will create a lot of momentum for PS branded content and I think wolverine will benefit even if GTA steals some of it's November/December sales.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave - 3m

I think reviews will be great and it will be a peak for the franchise

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter- 1m
Don't really follow the franchise

Control Resonant - 2m

I see this getting lost unfortunately, maybe PC can save it?

Silent Hill: Townfall - 1.5m

Seems to be a spinoff anyway but I don't expect big things.

I think Orbitals will be bigger than many Nintendo 1st party releases this year. I foresee a strong but relatively soft launch followed by crazy good word of mouth that keep it selling for the rest of the gen. I think the hectic releases won't really effect Switch 2 exclusives titles as much as other platforms either. I always see my Switch 2 purchases as separate from my PS5 ones and I suspect many Switch 2 third party ports will get way less attention then Orbitals. It will also stand out as a Co-Op game too. Something someone gets alongside whatever AAA single player games get release in September/November, not either or.

Edit: I revised Orbitals down a tad because I just saw the metacritic. I saw a few 9/10 reviews on twitter but see the general reviews are a bit more mixed (82)

Orbitals - 4.5M
Just guessing here. It Takes Two sold a lot so the ceiling is high I suppose. I’m not certain whether this is a timed or permanent exclusive either.

The Blood of Dawnwalker - 9M
Never bet against open world action RPGs. The timer thing could potentially be controversial though.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword - 7M
Capcom knows their shit so it should do well.

Wolverine - 18M
I think Insomniac has proven themselves, as has Marvel.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave - 4.5M
Price is high and user base is smaller, but Fire Emblem is an established name now and I expect it to be well received.

Control Resonant - 5.5M
The first Control has sold 6M. I don’t expect this to be quite as beloved but should still do relatively well.

Silent Hill: Townfall - 3.5M
SH2 has sold 5M and SHf has sold 3M. This will do less but still respectable numbers.

I hope you’re right. Sounds like people are really pumped for it, and early impressions have been super positive.

To be fair, Yoshi and Star Fox both have specific reasons behind that.

Star Fox obviously because of the very narrow timeframe it had to be counted (6 days) but Yoshi has shown in the past to be a series that doesn't sell the majority of its final sales right from the start, it doesn't sell big numbers but it has decent legs proportionally to the scale of the sales (most likely because it has some sort of a casual/family appeal). Crafted World roughly did 50% of its lifetime sales by the end of 2019 and it released early in the year in March. For all we know Mysterious Book could end up at like 1.3m by the end of this year and still sell 2.5m-3m lifetime.

Since Fire Emblem is a more "fanbase-driven" series, it will most likely get a bigger percentage of its lifetime sales this year already.

So far we have Onimusha & The Blood of Dawn walker at 1m after 1 days

And we have Orbitals charting at Number 3 in the UK behind Onimusha (multiplatform) & The Blood of Dawn (also multiplat)

So far a good start. A shame there won't be as much breathing room for these games because how intense the next few months will be release wise
