Tell me about it. I'm curious. :)

I recently played Doom: The Dark Ages and I liked the base campaign but it was far from Eternal level. The DLC on the other hand was really good and has the 2nd best gameplay in the entire series. The base campaign then grew on me more when I did a 2nd playthrough putting almost all the difficulty sliders to their hardest position including making the game speed 50% faster. That makes thinks way more hectic and really forces you to get good at using the Shield. I'm in the middle of a 2nd run of the DLC with those same settings though that was getting so brutally hard I took a break.

Overall I think it's a pretty strong entry though the story in the base campaign being weak and the dragon segments being a bit annoying dragged things down some. I hope id Software getting impacted by mass layoffs doesn't hurt the next Doom game too much since the current NuDoom trilogy is one of the best FPS experiences out there with Eternal in particular being a 10/10 masterpiece in terms of gameplay.

Got around to trying Ghost of Tsushima. Pretty disappointed, extremely boring. I would go as far as to say even Ass Creed Shadows is better. Rise of the Ronin is pretty good, it’s on PS+ I think. Got the plat awhile back after it launched. I am maybe five or six hours in. Don’t think I will bother trying any more.

Most recently I played and beat Halo Campaign Evolved. I know there are mixed opinions on it, but I really enjoyed my time with it. The new prequel missions were fun for what they were, but not as good as the main game.

The best levels from the original had very little changes other than having some of the best graphics. Mainly minor tweaks. But The Library is much better in the remake, as well as some of the other later levels. The warthog run IMO is more fun and makes more sense.

Campaign Remix and all the skulls add a lot of replayability.

I do hope the Halo 2 and 3 remakes add the cut content from those games, which sadly wasn't the case with Campaign Evolved.

Appreciate hearing your guys’ input on these games. Those two have been on my radar for a quite while. I’m holding off on Halo until I have played the OG (that or the remake goes on deep sale maybe), and Doom…well…IDK if I can stomach shooting demons in Hell. Oof! I’m sensitive to violent themes.

The modern Doom trilogy and Halo sound like must-plays from all that I’ve heard about them though. Maybe one day…
