Technically previous generation, as it was a NES despite the Genesis being the newest system available at the time. However, it was before the western release of the SNES.

Around the Network

Console : NES. Got it around the time the N64 came out
Handheld: Game Boy (unless Game& Watch count)
Computer AM286, 2MB RAM, VGA GPU (but able to run SVGA in 640x480), 40MB HDD (somehow boosted to 60 by a parity Boot B virus), both a 3'5" and 5'25" floppy disk drive, Soundblaster Soundcard and a joystick port (in a PC sold from a bank which was updating their PCs to the brand new i486DX).

First console I played was Atari 2600 in 1986. First console I owned NES. 1987. First console I bought with my own money was a N64 in 1999. First console I got on launch was Gamecube. Side note not long after playing Atari 2600 I played a Vectrex. Similar to Switch 1 I got my Switch 2 in November of the year it launched.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Christmas 2006. My first gaming session ever was in Super Smash Bros Melee at age 3 (one month short of the big 4). GCN was my only home console until Christmas 2008 when my family got a Wii, though me and my brother's attention remained firmly fixed on GCN for a while.
