Also, how the fuck can we rate the PS6 yet when it's not even announced, much less released?

the ps6 was by far the easiest ps for me to rate. i dont know how anybody else feels about that, but thats been my experience

Total Championships: Nintendo - 4, Sony - 2, Atari - 1, Microsoft - 0, Sega - 0

Around the Network

PS1: 7/10
PS2: 9.5/10
PS3: 6/10
PS4: 8.5/10
PS5: 6.5/10
PSP: 9/10
PS Vita: 7/10

PS1: 8
PS2: 10
PS3: 4
PS4: 9
PS5: 6

PS2 has the best library out of all consoles. PS3 had a very weak lineup for a long time, was the start in Sony's 1st party shift to specific genres, had high hardware failure rates and I dislike that gen in general. PS4 fixed a lot of issues, with the main problem being that it lost most exclusives to PC and late gen suboptimal framerates. PS5 was a good piece of tech for its launch price and the main way to grab physical versions of 3rd party AAAs but they seem to be fucking up both.

PSP: 9
Vita: 3

I have a stupid amount of playtime on PSP. Some hardware issues like the analog nub build quality and UMDs and several import only titles stop it from being a 10 in my mind. The Vita hardware is cool, I guess. Had some Ys exclusives for a while. That's about it.

PS1, 9/10 - Moved the medium forward, was affordable, had both high quality games and a large library, the first home console to break the 100 million selling mark. Non of my favorite games are on this thing, knocking down the last point. But it is difficult to deny the first PlayStation its rightful place somewhere in the top spot for all consoles. Metal Gear Solid, Tekken 3, Tony Hawk's pro skater 2, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro is some of the games I remember most.

PS2, 7/10 - Keep having large library with both high quality and variety, but for me the thing felt like such a let down when I tried it. The world on the street by the kids and in the marketing was that this was a power house with great graphics, but coming from playing on the GameCube I found a machine with loading times for days, uncomfortable controller and games that was not impressive to me in the graphics department. Still have great memories on the thing, bought one at the end of its life for pennies and several bags of used games. Ico, Kingdom hearts, Shadow of the Colossus and Resident evil 4 (even if I thought it worse than the GC version) are what I liked most.

PS3, 8/10 - Better load times, more games to my liking, wireless controllers (that I still do not think are comfortable). Probably my most played PlayStation console. Off to a slow start and significantly more expensive to buy. Resident Evil 4 was played on repeat and even if I preferred the controls of the Wii version, this at least did not feel like a downgrade. Uncharted 1, 2, 3, Heavy Rain, Resident Evil 4 and the reason I bought the system the Last of Us was my most liked games on this system.

PS4, 6/10 Never got one and never played it at friends (who even have those as a grown up? ) or families. Only tried it out at the electronics store, still did not like the controller. Thought I would get a PS4 Pro when it was released but wanted a UHD Blu-ray player and it did not deliver. Only two games was of interest enough to maybe get one, Uncharted 4 and the Last of Us 2. But not enough for me to spend the money. The Wii U and 3DS was such let downs for me as well, i figured gaming might not be for me anymore. It never felt expensive and I later played a lot of the games on PS5 instead, so even if I never bought one, I can see the appeal.

PS5, 8/10 - Finally! A controller that I actually like from Sony. Not a beautiful system to look at and the game library of exclusives might not be on par with the previous systems, but it just do the trick for my. I guess the higher rating comes from the fact that when I got it I had pretty much the whole library of PS4 games to go trough. I like it as a media player, it finally got UHD Blu-ray support. The picture and sound output are excellent. My biggest issue with the console is that the power and eject buttons are not distinct enough for my to choose the correct one. It Takes Two, Astro Bot, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 4 Remake and Hogwarts Legacy are some of my most played games on the system. But my backlog is huge. When I finally stop using the system it no doubt will be my most played PlayStation by thousands of hours.

PS1 9/10. 2D games and RPGs hold up very well on it. So do alphamap-dependent games like Final Fantasy Tactics.

PS2 10/10. One of the greatest consoles ever made. Anybody with enough research can find 100 games they will love on this system.

PS3 9/10. Great exclusives. 3rd party games don't play too well compared to PC versions. But there's plenty of games that were developed with the cell architecture in mind.

PS4 9/10. A great system overall. Lots of exclusives. Doesn't run games as well as a modern PC or PS5 but the PS4 Pro definitely helped.

PS5 9/10. Both Sony and 3rd party AAA games on this system often are much weaker than PS4 prequels. Despite Sony's and 3rd party's efforts to make it suck, it's a fantastic system. Niche devs like Falcom, Atlus, Fromsoft and Gust have contributed greatly to it.

PS6 0/10. I can see 3rd party devs' destruction on the PS5 coming to a head here. No discs is a massive problem.

Checkout my PS5 collection here. Also don't forget to check the Asian-English PS5 section where I bought niche games out of Japan. https://www.pricecharting.com/offers?seller=z7k4dvglkmyknuh74nsmqtjoeq&status=collection
