Yeah this is kind of where I'm at as well, I feel like Killzone had higher highs, but also lower lows.

Resistance was more consistent, and I'd rank all three mainline Resistance titles above Killzone 1 or Shadowfall, but none of them quite touch Killzone 2.

Enjoyed them both overall though.

Really like both franchises but I enjoyed the Resistance storyline more.

Also Resistance had better/more fun couch coop than Killzone so that's a win for me.

I always felt Resistance was more consistent in quality! And the story was a lot better.

Good timing on this too as a fan made remaster of the first game is coming! Gotta love the PC gaming community

for someone who isn't massively into MP gaming, I really loved the MP `in Killzone 2 with the SP being rated less, but would have ranked higher if you could have been allowed to beat Rico's arse , my favourite was Resistance 2 had a blast in the 8 player co-op with some of the best people I have met online.

Resistance 2 was great, 3 was good. But i feel killzone was more grand. Killzone 1 was held up by the hardware. Kz2 was a great immersive shooter. I think i spent more time on kz2 online than any other shooter. The feel of headshots and the sound effect is still my favourite, it always felt satisfying. Kz3 was a good game, 4, was ok. I feel overall killzone has contributed more .

I know a lot of people feel it hasn't aged well, but I really missed this "gunge" era of gritty edgy shooters in the 2000s/early 2010s, they had a vibe all their own that I really enjoyed.

Both Resistance and Killzone really captured that feeling of fighting a desperate struggle against an overwhelming enemy, with the world teetering on the brink. You don't get that so much from many modern shooters in my opinion.
