As much as I don't want to see the 360 get left behind (as I own one), once developers really get a handle on the architecture of the PS3, I suspect we are going to see more and more games that beat the best the 360 has to offer. Not necessarily by a huge amount, but noticeable none-the-less. There is already one title out there that stands out -- GT5P -- and there are probably more to come.

Perhaps there is still a bit more horsepower to squeeze out of the 360 but it surely is less than what is left on the PS3. When the PS3 reaches the point of near-mastery by the elite developers is anyone's guess, though. The PS2 was still getting better even in the last couple of years...

I guess we'll have to wait and see what the next year holds but I highly doubt ANY game that is coming out this Holiday will stand the test of time for the remainder of this generation as the top-dog graphics-wise. There will be better on both consoles in the future -- bank on it.

Don't forget the Wii...and the "PS3 like graphics" game in development...

gow2 will look good, it will be more polished tha the 1st gow.

but gow1 stunned people because it was the 1st true nex gen grafix availiable, and obviously gow2 will look better but not by that much, if its got to fit on 1 dvd it will be more along the lines of better art direction and grafical effects eg. the new blob and water animations that the new unreal engine will do and mabey more on screen.

the best option would be put the multiplayer on a seperate dvd

i think someone in EPIC, mention that they think to use second disk for multiplayer...

It has the best chance of best graphics 2008. Epic are great with Unreal engine 3, better than everyone else. And any new enhancements like more characters on screen, better lighting, Physics, destructable environments. All these would make Gears 1 the best looking title now.

Gears2, Killzone 2, RFoM2 are all coming out by the end of this year, they will all have some parts better then the others, but i don't feel one game will simply blow the others away overall.

Who cares? There are hordes and hordes of futuristic shooters and FF-style jRPGs this gen. As far as I'm concerned, they have roughly equal graphics from a technical point of view, and it comes to having a distinct style.

We are not counting PC right? If we are not counting it, then I'd say: yes. Gears of War 2 is pretty kick butt looking.
