Forums - Gaming - Resident Evil Veronica announced for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series and PC

So many people missing Code Veronica here

It was my favorite RE back in the days, I think it's the best and more refined iteration of old RE design philosophy

This game indeed doesn't seem to follow the same gameplay elements of the original, first person and more focused on horror, guess it will play more like Village ?

Around the Network

So hyped for this game. I can already tell just based on the environments in the teaser this game’s gonna be a lot more tension-filled and less spastic than OG CV. I’m sorry, but Claire going into an Umbrella facility guns blazing and taking out Umbrella guards like they’re nothing? Glad that’s getting scrapped. Oh, and I love that HUNK is gonna be featured more prominently in the story this time around. Little fun fact: Rockfort Island was where he did his training, but the OG game just subtly hinted at that via files.

Can’t wait til we actually see Chris, Wesker and the Ashfords in one of the upcoming trailers (possibly the next), though I do wonder if we’ll get REmake Chris or another redesign that we’ll see again in the hypothetical re-REmake of 1 that they’re also supposedly working on. Assuming the latest REmakes are now canon, I’d have to think they’ll bring back REmake Chris for this and maybe slightly tweak his design (little more stubble on his face post-REmake which lines up with him growing a beard in 5 and 6), but I don’t know, they’re not exactly clear or consistent which character model shows up where or when in the timeline.

Oh, and it looks like the Wesker fight will be an actual boss fight this time around. I know, I know, giving those blasted leakers credence, but I could definitely believe that one. That just screams change they’d naturally make in a hypothetical remake. I even remember saying if CV ever got remade, we’re 100% actually gonna get to fight Wesker ourselves instead of it just being a cutscene.

Hopefully switch doesn’t hold it back too much

It won't; for a game like this that's likely going to be built around mostly enclosed environments without a gazillion characters on screen or a ton of complex physics, you shouldn't really need to make any design concessions, just make it for PS5/Xbox Series then trim back the Switch 2 version from there in much the same way as Requiem.

The game will be third person and is being developed by the team behind the RE2 and RE4 Remakes:
