Forums - Sony - Dragged my PS3 out of retirement

Tagged games:

I was feeling kinda nostalgic for my Uni days and I had so much fun revisiting 360 recently that I decided to unpack my old PS3 and check out a few games I never got around to back in the day, for old times sake.

Whoa boy was it an adventure and a half getting signed in on the blasted thing, and I forgot how looooong it takes to download shit on this beast, modern systems kinda spoiled me with their speed and convenience.

Still, there's something special about this era in gaming for me, so while these old systems can be a bit of a hassle, once you get into the games themselves it's still a blast, for me anyway.

Anyone else still play theirs, or have you all long since packed it up?

I have mine still connected, mostly for Demon's Souls, though not sure why anymore, since that runs quite good on RPCS3.

360 and PS3 are still connected. I do play them time to time. I played a lot of 360 last year and some PS3.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

My PS3 is still connected to the TV in my basement. There are quite a few games I still plan to play on it. Actually need to boot it up in order to buy COD Classic from the PS Store while that is still functional on the PS3.

I'd get a move on with that; I downloaded some DLC on my PS3 today and it fought me every step of the way, first not letting my download it from the game itself, then making me use the PSN app just to sign into my online account, then refusing to let me pay by credit card or even use my credit card to add funds, (had to add them via my PS4 then check back) then finally crashing halfway through the download.

I got it in the end, but holy crap, it did NOT want me to and the roadblocks were ridiculous.

I have been thinking about picking those up; I shied away from them before cos I dislike that Hollywood-animated-film style of dialog/VA, but if the gameplay's good enoguh perhaps I can overlook it.

Ever play Ratchet?  Honestly man, anybody who likes Nintendo (IMO) would love Ratchet.  Fantastic gameplay, amazing worlds, great story and the games are hilarious.  Ratchet is excellent, except the ps4 remake, that was garbage.  the best are Rift and Crack.  I would put Ratchet top 10 all time franchises in the history of gaming, like legit.

I had a fully delidded BC model which I sold recently. Good system, although I thought the PS3 library was weaker than the 360 in my opinion.

I messed around with the PS2 ones like 20 years ago, but I find a lot of stuff that didn't click with me back then I can now appreciate, so I think I'll probably give the newer games a go one of these days, may as well.

I would agree on the 360 having a stronger library, for my money its exclusives were more interesting. That said, I do still love the PS3, it's one of my top 5 or 6 consoles I've owned.
