It's still far, far away IMO.
2030 is my guess.
Available on all systems PS5, XBS, NS2, PS6, XBH/PC

I have no clue what the gameplay will be about tho, but I think they won't try turn based anymore.

...

And I hope we have Persona 6 before it.

Atlas is taking waaaaaaaayyyy tooo long for P6, easily my most wanted game, feels like a dream rather than a reality at this point

P5 will be 10 years old later this year. And it was once supposed to be a PS3 exclusive by 2013.

Insane that we didn't even get an announcement for P6 yet.

Around the Network

Wish they did something like the Agni's Philosophy tech demos. Forspoken seemed like it was going to be that, until it wasn't. Always thought FFXVI would be that.

So, what do you expect for the next mainline Final Fantasy game?

What I expect:

Generic Action hack and slash, 1 or limited amount of characters, , hyper realistic graphics, questionable/uninspired narrative and character design.

What I want:

ATB back, self contained battles back (no buffing before getting into fights), yes even if it means random battles. Unique character and world design, something that says "This is Final Fantasy 17" not "this is our graphics and character design now for all our games." (there was a post on the FF sub reddit where someone said "look how good these games look", it was a of a character standing overlooking a landscape, 15, 16 and 7R2 and honestly, without the character in front, you could easily say it was the same game).

Narratively, something, stick to the whole crystal or summon's thing but make summons just a spell/animated. Kinda tired of them being controllable or worse, random.

Hmm, pie.

Cross-gen. Helix will already be out and PS6 might be, but cross-gen became even more popular this gen than it has ever been.
I'm expecting a turn-based game. I know it will have been over 25 years, but FF is at a crossroads. What does Square Enix have to lose?
It will be a multi-platform and PC game. There might be somewhat of a delay in versions possibly, but it will be transparent before release.
Likely platforms: PS5, PS6, PC, Xbox Helix
Possible: Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2. These aren't overly likely as Series S and Switch 2 are bottlenecks.
Broad Release Estimate: Not before September 2028, not after November 2030.

If the Helix can play Steam games, what's the incentive of putting out an Xbox version, especially if it flops and sells like 10 million units?  They can just put it out on Steam and Helix owners can buy it there.

Fair point. We'll have to see how Xbox's storefront is doing by then. Because you're right, Steam would probably be enough.
