Monster Hunter Spinoff FW Comparison:

  • Diary (PSP) - 280,581
  • Stories (3DS) - 154,390
  • Stories 2 (NS) - 137,676
  • Diary G (PSP) - 102,963
  • Stories 3 (NS2+PS5) - 54,906
  • Diary DX (3DS) - 52,272

Pretty disappointing results

With its audience mostly leaning to Switch maybe its been impacted by the Pokemon Hype. Switch 2 audience is still growing so maybe it'll just not be as front loaded as past titles

MarioKart World isn't doing as hot as I would be expecting... not even a year after launch and it's legs are weaker than Animal Crossing New Horizons (NSW+NS2 Edition) and MTFever. Perhaps this is just an off week? Since Pokopia is the big game moving units this week, and not MarioKart.

The problem with Mario Kart World is that it made some of the sales it would've been making in 2026 last year already, which kinda leads to this bounce-back effect.
What's likely is that the game would've much better legs in early 2027 than in early 2026 thanks to a new wave of buyers by Holidays 2026 who would not have bought Mario Kart World at the same time as the console, atleast not in the proportions of last year.

MKW is over 3 million in Japan alone and people are saying its sales are not good

I was going to say that you need to account for digital... but I'm not sure that'd help very much. That's disappointing.

Digital is actually a big deal in japan- with usually a higher than 50 percent attach rate

It just sold a bit fast. 2.8m physical sales against 4.8m units sold, more than 50% damn attach, perhaps 60% with digital.

It's jaw dropping, regardless if it has slowed down weekly.
