Another interesting perspective from a former Rockstar artist.

Why not the other DLSS versions too? They're also generative AI, and you did say "all."

They're included. Every AI data center needs to be shut down and/or destroyed, for the sake of everyone's jobs and clean drinking water.

Do you own a Switch 2?
The CG artist´s perspective was relevant, although it seems he makes a flawed assumption that too many others also do:
that this is a ¨screen space¨ i.e. pixel modifying filter effect, or somehow equivalent to image modifying AI programs...
When it´s 100% clear that is not the case, that this is directly integrated to rendering flow, which is why NVIDIA is so confident
about it´s performance since it would be in place of normal lighting compute demands, not on top of them.
I see so many takes judging it as if the tech is incapable of dark lighting, when there is nothing to indicate that.
Judging it based solely on Grace street scene, when the other examples don´t replicate their complaints about that scene...
That´s a clear sign the issues with that scene aren´t inherent to DLSS 5, but due to specific application and/or underlying scene data.
It´s strange people don´t get this, especially when at the same time they can describe how their complaints are common to
broader visual media trends, whether in CGI realm or even live film/video. Obviously when that is the case, then even a ¨neutral tech¨
will be utilized by humans in a way that will often follow broader trends.
I think NVIDIA could obviously have approached it´s publicity better... Using a ¨main character/ player avatar¨ from loved series
is just too likely to provoke un-necessary hostility, when they could just use zero-attachment characters from their own demos.
Of course also showing a broader range of lighting and scenes. At this point I think they should release a ¨behind the scenes¨ look
showing the specific choices going into their Grace street scene (and showing how alternative choices are possible), as well as
other examples. The over-all issue seems to be with ¨Netflix¨ (or Marvel films etc) lighting, which is just one lighting scenario
(that also exists in real, non-AI media, thus the Netflix/Marvel references), and showing examples that diverge from that
would be helpful at this point, although again that is a popular presentation style currently independent of DLSS 5,
so it´s not surprising that somebody thought implementing that was a reasonable application of DLSS 5.

Fuck. -_-

Lol. Switch 2, for third party, would be a boat anchor without DLSS. Ain't nobody playing 540p in 2025 on new releases.

I mean I don't think there is any ethical consumption under capitalism and people shouldn't have to live ascetic lives because of that fact.
But game-products are luxury goods, and there are alternative ways to play games without endorsing things one strongly feels are unethical.
Every dollar that goes to Nintendo for the SW2 endorses Nintendo's decision to embrace DLSS somewhat, and has some profit for Nvidia as well.
The SW3 is almost certainly going to go in further on neural-rendering because it suits Nintendo's philosophy of having low power consumption systems, while allowing them to keep up on 3rd party support. Plus Nintendo has a strong relationship with Nvidia.

So I have to choose between having clean air and water and never being able to play new Nintendo games again? The world really is fucked. -_-
