Forums - Microsoft - Project Helix - The next generation of Xbox

Looks like Project Magnus wasn't real after all.

Anyway, it seems we're going to learn more about it in the coming months, or maybe even weeks.

Someone suggested Magnus could be the name of the SoC.

Xbox gonna have a lot of work to do on convincing anyone outside of their core hardware playerbase that this will be worth buying. I do like the concept of a PC with a console experience as long as it's intuitive and doesn't come with any of the typical gaming PC technical issues.

Why?

Do you really think anyone is in a rush to by a £1200 PC that also supports an eco system that died last year?

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

Yes Magnus is the codename of the AMD SoC is all.

I'm down. But only if it has a UHD Blu-Ray drive so I can run my OG Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series physical games and then roll in my PC collection on top... Plus allows continued access to my Movie/TV UHD library.
#PCGamingMasterRace.

Also Microsoft... Remove that stupid 16 Terabyte storage drive limit, I am out of space with 900~ games installed.

The price for me will be irrelevant, but the Optical drive is definitely a make-it or break-it feature.

Nice to see they remain committed to remaining in the console space; I wasn't so sure they'd stick with it given how badly the Series has crashed and burned.

More options for consumers is a good thing.

I'd be down if they stick with the Helix name and go with Xbox Helix. Much better than the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. A Helix is in a way a 3D 360.

I'm glad they are going down a bit of a different route having it able to Xbox and PC games. So it is a PC console hybrid. The OS/UI definitely needs work, which I am sure it will improve overtime. The ROG Xbox Ally feels like a beta version of what they hope to achieve by the time the next-gen Xbox launches.
