Trump postponed his strikes on power plants for 5 days saying he had good dialogue with Iran, which Iran denies.

The US president says his administration has held “very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East” with Iran over the past two days.

Iran’s Fars news agency, quoting an unnamed Iranian source, says there has been no direct contact with US President Donald Trump, “not through an intermediary”. The source claimed Trump “backed down” after being warned that Iran would target power plants across the Gulf and in Israel.

Semi-official Mehr news agency has carried a statement from Iran’s Foreign Ministry saying that there is no dialogue between Tehran and Washington.

Trump is just manipulating the markets.

Oil prices fell by more than 13 percent after Trump said he would order the military ‌to postpone any strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure.

Brent crude futures had fallen about $17, or 15 percent to a session low of $96 a barrel by 11:08 GMT while US West Texas Intermediate had fallen $13, or about 13.5 percent, ‌to a session low of $85.28.

CNN:

Trump postpones strike threat: President Donald Trump says the US and Iran have held “productive conversations” and that he will hold off any military strikes against Iranian energy sites for five days, walking back his threat to strike if Tehran did not allow the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz – a waterway crucial to the global economy – by tonight.

Iran responds: Iran’s foreign ministry said there was “no dialogue” between Tehran and Washington, state affiliated media reported, adding Trump’s statement was “part of efforts to reduce energy prices and buy time for the implementation of his military plans.” Iran had vowed to retaliate by striking energy targets around the Middle East.

Oil plunges on news: Oil prices have plummeted after Trump suggested that the “very good” talks could lead to the end of the war.

Trump has reasons to lie to keep oil prices down but the same goes for Iran to keep prices up.

In any case however I'm inclined to think Trump is buying time until he has better leverage. The USS Tripoli and her strike group are now close to the Gulf.

I mean it is more than likely that he is lying- whether that is tactically or because he is cognitively impaired. But it is in line with the hospital ship that was on its way to Greenland (when it was not), the allies allegedly rallying to defend the straight (they were not), the former president congratulating him on going to war with Iran (all former presidents declined it was them).

All Iran has to do to keep prices up is send another drone into an oil refinery or oil tanker. Question is who is Trump allegedly been talking to if at all.

Iran could be lying about talks to keep a tough face for their population / military, we don't negotiate with terrorists kinda thing. They've been bombed twice now under negotiation. But if Iran can get the US to leave the ME through negotiations they'll accept that of course.

Problem is who is going to guarantee to hold the US/Israel to any agreement. Israel sure isn't respecting any agreement nor ceasefire.

Iranian parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has denied talks have taken place between Iran and the US, echoing the Foreign Ministry’s statement.

“No negotiations have been held with the US, and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped,” he wrote on X.

Iran responded by giving warnings about “the dire consequences of any attack on Iran’s vital infrastructure”, Baghaei said. US President Trump earlier claimed that the US spoke with senior Iranian leaders, and that the Iranians reached out first.

Responding to an IRNA reporter’s question about whether the US has stepped back from threats against Iran’s critical infrastructure, Baghaei said messages have been received in recent days through “friendly countries” conveying a US request for negotiations to end the war. Iran responded “appropriately” in line with what he called “the country’s principled positions.”

Baghaei said Iran’s replies included warnings about what he described as severe consequences if Iran’s critical infrastructure were attacked. He added that any action against Iran’s energy infrastructure would be met with a “decisive, immediate and effective” response by Iran’s armed forces, IRNA reported.

The spokesperson also rejected any negotiations or talks with the United States during what he called the past 24 days of an “imposed war.” He said Iran’s position on the Strait of Hormuz and the conditions for ending the war have not changed, according to IRNA.

Trump earlier today said the United States had reached “major points of agreement” with Iran following discussions that continued late into Sunday with two senior U.S. envoys.Speaking to reporters at an airport in West Palm Beach, Florida after spending the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump said the talks produced progress, but he stopped short of detailing the full scope of the discussions. “We’ll see where they lead,” he said.

So seems the US reached out, got the same response, Trump backed down. Trump tells it like he made progress, but the only 'agreement' reached is better not attack Iran's power plants.

Trumps "talks" with Iran are pure fiction. Iran isn't taking US calls right now. The last two times they've entered into negotiations with the US, Trump has authorized strikes on them. There is zero trust. Any eventual agreement will have to be done via an intermediary and likely require guarantees from other nations because Trumps word is worthless to Iran.

Israel just stealing the land of hundred thousands of people in Southern Lebanon (15-20% of the whole country) and telling them that they won't be able to come back, that they simply have lost all they worked for in their life and that they need to find something else as if it's nothing. Ahh sry, Katz said only until it's not dangerous for Israelis anymore so...never.

Yeah, that's how you spread peace around you. These people will surely love you and none of them will be pushed into extremism.

And just in a few years it will be just a coincidence that Israel will plant and build on the ground which isn't theirs.

It's the same in Syria, since early 2026 Israel occupies approximately 1,500 to 1,600 square kilometers of Syria. That's almost double of the 830 square kilometers Israel is now stealing from Lebanon.

Jordan is next after the West Bank...

About the 'talks'

I'm sure Israel will at least pay every displaced family enough money to buy a new house or apartment in the north of Lebanon, right? And give farmers or shop owners enough money to pay for what they will have lost, right? Because that's what you should obviously do if you tell those who aren't part of the extremists to leave their life behind.
