Forums - Gaming - Unreal Tournament 2004 is BACK!!

My original copy with 6 discs still sits in my collection, but I don't have an XP PC anymore, and there's only so much modernization available on my GOG copy. With Epic's blessing, the community-driven team of Old Unreal was previously able to add Unreal and Unreal Tournament '99, and NOW, they have added UT2004 along with their first community patch for modernizations and fixes that also adds online play.

Feel free to enjoy fragging again in Onslaught!!

Here's the link to the installer if you don't have a copy that auto includes the community patch:

Here's the link to the patch itself if you already have a GOG copy:

Man, I've been playing UT'99 over the course of the past year, and it's soooooooo good! Has barely aged a day. The Old Unreal community continually puts out patches and bug fixes too. Combo modern resolutions, compatibility, along with 4K resolution mods for textures and models, and you're in business!! Game practically looks brand new being able to play with others online again takes me BACK!

Let me know if you want a link to the 4K mods! If not, download UT'99 as well from Old Unreal's site and have fun!

Thanks I'll probably check out both 99 and 2004, I've only played Unreal at LANs before way back and not entirely sure which version.

My brothers still play the old Unreal Tournament from 1999. I never played but I liked watching it. That impact hammer is such a fun thing to mess around with.
I was never into FPS games, but Unreal Tournament always looked like a fun time. I especially liked the game mode Assault, one team defending and another team trying to finish map-specific objectives.

I'm still baffled they took it off Steam.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

That basically means being baffled by the Epic Games Store. I'm more baffled they took it off GOG. Curiously they're still selling Jazz Jackrabbit and Epic Pinball there but not on Steam, and they're also giving away Jill of the Jungle for free on GOG. I guess they must depend on work done by GOG to run on any modern hardware, since they're not available on Epic Games Store either.

I mean, it's not like UT2004 would have been a platform seller by the time Epic Store launched.

No, but Epic's been pretty consistent with their anti-Steam stance.
