That was one of the most exciting news from the State of Play. The question is if it's going to be a full remake (Final Fantasy VII), or more of an graphics upgrade (Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Super Mario RPG).

If it comes to PC, I will try it. It would be cool, since I never played God of War III.

Probably more like the Crash Trilogy, which is called a remaster but they had to rebuild the games pretty much entirely, so I consider them remakes.

I don't think they'll bring all 3 games to modern gameplay as that would take far too much time, but I do think they'll rework the camera somewhat.

Today I saw someone bring mocap as a potential issue on Youtube, and indeed, mocap was only present starting with Ascension, so those are the 3 games Santa Monica developed themselves that had no mocap, and that is definitely being added now, so we can expect vastly improved dialogue scenes as modern games get, and they will likely take the chance to recast some voice actors as well, some as necessity, others by choice, and that's was TC was there to announce it.

Seems like it'll have "a new fighting system".

to be fair, he does say 'probably'. I think he's just making assumptions on this as a remake.

I hope they just refine the original combat.

I'm 50/50 on this.

On one side I'm excited a remake of God of War 1/2/3 is coming though I know it will be really changed compared to the original.

I dont think it'll be as violent or revealing as the original which I guess is whatever but the lack of any info for Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta which I both enjoyed makes me sad that these two games will likely be skipped.

What I do hope is the gameplay is improved especially with GoW1 Hades section, climbing back up section is awkward.

First, yeah, the PSP games are being skipped, it's only the main trilogy.

Second, those games were not developed by Santa Monica, but by Ready at Dawn, so it's very clear Santa Monica wants to redo their own developed games, they want to improve upon their own work.

Thrid, Ascension was also developed by Santa Monica, so why is it missing? My opinion is that the Trilogy Remake is actually one single full game, not a collection of 3 remakes. Ascension had a different gameplay style because Kratos only had the Blades of Chaos until God of War 1 started, so it has mechanics to hold enemies, pick up and throw weapons, and even enemies that felt different to the usual consistency of the 3 mainline numbered games.

So, IMO, letting it out makes the trilogy a very consistent package, that can be reproduced as one single continuous game (always has been a personal dream of mine). It does have a problem of the 2 PSP games taking place between 1 and 2, so they will need to work it out by having a time leap from when Kratos becomes the God of War to when Zeus comes to kill him, exactly like the story was when the games were first released and no other complimentary games existed yet, only 1 and 2.

I dunno what happened to Batman, but those game histories are likely not getting retconned or deleted, as the other games mention them, specially on 3, for example Helios on God of War 3 talking to Kratos about what he did for him in Chains of Olympus, I think maybe even in Valhalla he may have talked about it too. Or why Hades hates us so much because of what we did in Chains of Olympus as well. Kratos is also talking about Deimos how in some games, specially having him there in the smaller Sons of Sparta that just released, and it was originally first seem in Ghost of Sparta too.

So I believe they are simply not working on them and focusing on what is the main trilogy, 3 games is already a lot to work into.

Also, my previous post had a mistake, only Ghost of Sparta from the PSP games happens between 1 and 2, Chains of Olympus happens before 1, the second game that happens between 1 and 2 is the small story of the java mobile game Betrayal.

They'll probably do a 2nd remake with those added.

I doubt Sony and SMS want to be on this project till 2030 for a single release.

Batman Arkham Origins was made by WB Games Montreal and not by the original developer who made Asylum, City and Knight - Rocksteady Studios.

The Rocksteady games (Asylum, City and Knight) have been ported/remastered over to almost all the platforms out there, Origins is still only PS3/X360/Wii/PC. Which is a shame because Origins was still pretty good.

If they were to implement sections of the games as flashbacks, I wouldnt mind that. But a second remake sure.
