Forums - Nintendo - Is super mario galaxy for switch honestly just a...

Port of the wii game?

Like seriously?

I just put this game into my switch today expecting some kind of polish, but its literally just a ctrl+c ctrl+v on a switch cartridge. What a scam.

Yes, i did buy it and i don't regret my purchase at all,  but i always give money to nintendo no matter what they put out because thats just kind of my role in this whole thing. But still, I cant believe nintendo is doing this and everyone is just cool with it. They couldnt use all the money theyve made from all these championships to make the game run in high definition or give it any sort of polish at all? The whole thing is a disgrace and its shameful. How much work could it have really taken? Especially considering the price of the damn thing. If they were just going to copy paste it, it should be $30 for the package at absolute most. I still just cant believe this. I would say don't buy it but i don't want to negatively impact nintendos earnings in any way, so still buy it of course, im not saying not to, just make sure to post on the internet how immoral this whole thing is, but also make clear to others that you're not saying not to buy it either. We need to expect better from nintendo.

I didn't even buy it. I own the original. If I want to play it again, that's how I'll play it.

Yeah.Don't disagree it's a poor value. But kind of on you for not checking it out beforehand.

Always at least watch the trailer for a game.

Nintendo doesn't care about what you think about it, Nintendo cares about whether you buy it or not. Congratulations, you've voted for Nintendo to continue with similar releases in the future.

Wii should have been coming to NSO. $40 for a Wii game is silly yes.

They're not that much ahead of GC for their to be such a huge disparity.

We had it good when the Wii was charging just $10 for games from a 10 year old system (N64). Now we have $40 for games from a 20 year old system.

I mean if you have a super popular IP like Mario on your hands, low effort ports at full price can still sell good numbers, so from a business standpoint its a no brainer to do such releases for Nintendo. Gamers will have to vote with their wallets if they want them to stop doing it.

With the new conversion they made last year, they did upgrade or redo a lot of the textures to look better in HD, though a lot of the changes could be considered downgrades. The main appeal of this conversion is getting to play Galaxy in 4k on Switch 2, as opposed to 1080p on Switch 1.

It's just a marketing stunt for the Mario Galaxy movie.

On the bright side, now you can play SMGalaxy 1+2 at 4k 60FPS without a nice PC. (And on the go!)
