They all run from cart for me. Some are Limited Run Game releases though that I have.
Ori for instance has all patches and content on cart, but being the AU release which is based on the EU release, things might be different in the old US of A.

I'm actually in Australia too. :)

I don't have XCOM 2 but looking online the cover has the download required label, while I did pick up Outer Worlds on cart myself and IIRC it needed half the game to be downloaded. (It was 5 years ago now so my memory's not 100% but I'm pretty sure and online the cover also says download required)

At any rate, I do agree third parties kinda saved Switch's 2020 as Nintendo's first party lineup was kinda weak.

I can confirm that I don't need to do any downloads for the Outerworlds... If I wish to run the game unpatched which has performance and visual implications. (Much of which is resolved by just dropping the cart into a Switch 2.)

X-Com 2 collectors edition has the entire game and all DLC on the cart as well.

I'll check when I'm back at my old place in a couple weeks but I'm pretty sure my copy (launch day) wanted me to download half the game, did it get a limited run on a bigger cart later or something?

Are we counting handhelds? If so, it's gotta be one of their portables. Easily.

You can count say "Wii and DS 2010" or "GC and GBA 2002" if you want.

I don't know about a specific year but Gamecube is still the best multiplatform support Nintendo got in my opinion. It got a lot of games the same day as PS2 and they usually ran better too.

Lots of series and games: The Sims, Timesplitters, Need for Speed, SSX, Prince of Persia, Tony Hawk's, Fifa, Madden, NFL, NBA, Crash, Splintercell, Spyro, GUN, Simpsons Hit & Run, Spider-Man.

Not late ports and not compromised performance. EA in particular have been crap at supporting Nintendo systems after the gamecube.

2003 did offer a lot of the games you mention; Need for Speed Underground, Prince of Persia Sands of Time, SSX 3, Tony Hawk Underground, Splinter Cell, The Sims, Simpsons Hit and Run, FIFA, NBA, etc, pus others like Beyond Good and Evil, Burnout 2, Skies of Arcadia, Ikaruga.

Just came across this data:

(Cited from ResetEra.) It’s a little bit surreal seeing Nintendo so far ahead of Xbox overseas. With how often third-party titles have dropped on both Xbox and PS systems for all these years, it’s very exciting to consider a future where games of similar technical demands to e.g. Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur would release same day across PS5, XBSXS, PC, and NS2.

Never ever could’ve imagined this on Wii, Wii U, nor even Switch 1.

^ Great find, and very encouraging.
We're already seeing third party output on Switch 2 ramping up, and most of the year's games probably haven't even been announced yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if 2026 tops every year since SNES in this regard.

I would say yes.

Final Fantasy VII Intergrade Remake, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Resident Evil Requiem, Call of Duty, Pragmata, Indiana Jones & The Great Circle, Monster Hunter Wilds, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Yakuza 3, Monster Hunter Stories III, Metaphor: Refantazio, Starfield, eFootball, Forza, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Borderlands 4, 007: First Light, Turok, Elden Ring, Fallout 4, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, possibly Halo: Master Chief Collection, etc. are confirmed or stated as coming from reliable sources, would be tough to beat that.

I expect there's a lot of 3rd party content that will be announced as the year goes on also, stuff like Battlefield and NHL series from EA I think makes it this year for example and especially since EA was sold to that Saudi investment firm. The above list is just what we know about now, that list will likely balloon significantly in the coming months.
