Just wish it was more, even if it's only half a million more.

1.5m would already put it above Prime 2 and Prime 3, so that’s good if that’s the case.
But obviously, it needs to do better than that to recoup the ballooning production costs from when it restarted development and to convince Nintendo that Prime 5 is worth the investment.

Prime 5 will likely happen regardless Metroid is a series they use to compliment the library and the next game is unlikely to have the same restart issues.

No exact number mentioned, all he said was that it crossed 1m

Quick question: What is the legitimacy of this report? Regarding MP4B. I’d love to hear sales were over 1mil (and TBH that’s not much of a surprise if true), but all I’m seeing is that some dude on BlueSky claims to have spoken with a Nintendo rep.

When it comes to Nintendo making Metroid I'd never take it for granted.

Okay, I heard estimates were around the 1.5 million range, can you confirm @stephentotilo if its somewhere around there?

Definitely hasnt come close to breaking even yet but it might get there in the long run, next quarter we will have more of an idea.

Totilo's a professional with a solid track record, I think it's likely he's confident in this to put it out there, knowing that it being nonsense could hurt his reputation.
It's not gospel of course, but it would make sense; if the game sold say 900k on Switch 2 and 400k on Switch 1 then technically it would be over a million, but still wouldn't appear in Nintendo's quarterly report as neither SKU alone is over a million.

I guess that's fair.

Stephen was the one that talked with a Nintendo rep, not Reece.
