Forums - Nintendo - Zelda Echoes of Wisdom vs Metroid Prime 4

Which game do you think is better?

Zelda Echoes of Wisdom 8 53.33%

Metroid Prime 4 7 46.67%

Total:15

I did not enjoy Echoes Of Wisdom, but I havent played Metroid Prime 4 yet. Im pretty sure Metroid will win for me pretty easy though.

I voted for the better game, lets leave it at that.

Poll is a tie so far; looks like the two are closely matched as far as opinions here go.

Zelda is my favorite franchise, I legit think wisdom is average at best. Battle system is slow and tedious, most of the game is just meh. Puzzles dont feel like puzzles. More like craft a bunch of random stuff and toss it around the screen.

Edit

I also loathed how much they nerfed zelda.  I don't get why she couldn't have a rapier or bow/arrow.

Technically Zelda has both a sword and a bow in Echoes of Wisdom, they're just not unlimited use so as to not trivialize the summoning mechanic.

I haven't followed Echoes of Wisdom at all, until I started playing it with my partner a few weeks ago (had it in my backlog, but didn't play it until then; didn't look at reviews.) Didn't realize there was controversy surrounding it. I am not too far into the game (about four hours in), but I would say I am enjoying it. Probably would give it somewhere between an 8/10 and 9/10 at this point.

I settled on 8.5/10 for Metroid Prime 4 (compared to 8/10 for Corruption, 9/10 for Echoes, and 10/10 for Prime 1.

Will vote when I finish EoW in a few months (spend about 2 hours per week on it with my partner, since it lends itself to being bite-sized, so probably will finish it end of March/early April.

I haven't played MP4, and seeing some reviews mentioning there is very little of actual Metroidvania in it, it's highly unlikely I'll be playing it in foreseeable future.

EoW was somewhat interesting experience at first, but quite average on overall in the end as 2D Zelda.

Yeah but think about it.  Zelda can only fight back when she turns into link...  i mean why?  Zelda in ocarina and wind weren't that pathetic.

I saw it more as briefly taking on Link's abilities rather than turning into him. To me she didn't seem pathetic, just more in keeping with her BOTW/TOTK portrayal as a bit of a nerd who solves problems with her brain rather than force.

Sounds like she is less capable than link. He can solve puzzles and fight.

Not really, in the recent games Zelda is integral to defeating Ganon; it takes both of them. She's also an active combatant in the recent Hyrule Warriors titles.

Her not being a hands-on fighter in Echoes of Wisdom is purely a matter of gameplay design, not a statement of her being incapable.

This was my take.  She comes off as quick pathetic.  I mean in 80s, females being weak was socially acceptable but in today's world..  just was off putting.  Especially given in Ocarina, Zelda was quite impactful.  Running around, helping link and having clear capabilities.  In Wind Waker she is captain of pirates and helps fight ganon.  In Echoes, you basically use a magic wand, summon fighters and sit in the corner.  I did not like how she was characterized.
