I feel like we are at the "if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all" stage of this interaction. Hopefully we will have better interactions in future threads :)

If you let AI think for you, steal art( and using up water for a dumb image) . Make a thread ask a question but then tell everyone they're wrong. Maybe you have no creative thought and only want echo chambers.

Ive shown willingness to concede the point that switch is 8th gen and is 9th gen instead. All i said was that i was looking for a 3peat but if thats not whats in play, im not going to lose sleep over it. Nintendo can still 3peat if switch 2 does well and then win the next two gens after that.

Both with Switch 1, and in a few years Switch 2, respectively. The 8th gen consists of Switch, WiiU, PS4 & Xbox One and Nintendo won that one with Switch just like it won the 7th one with Wii and just like it will win the 9th one with Switch 2 ( and the 10th one too, since it will cover most of the lifespan of PS6 & Xbox Prime too ). It's a no brainer. Anyone insisting Switch belongs to the current 9th gen, really should get his facts straight, it nonsense that makes no sense at all and only wishful thinking by random sony fans that can't deal with the fact that Nintendo won and will keep winning every gen, with the only exception ever being the PS1 & PS2 gens for home consoles, and only those.

I mean the thing is that theyre basically having to choose which gen they lost, 8th or 9th. Seems most have settled on a willingness to lose 9th gen over 8th gen, i think part of that could be that they dont want us to be in position to 3peat (3 championships in a row)

Wii U and Switch outsold the PS4 so Nintendo won that but I doubt the Switch 2 will outsell the PS5

PS1 beat the N64, PS2 beat the Gamecube, PS3 lost to the Wii, The PSP lost to the DS, The PS4 beat the Wii U, and the PSP Vita lost to the 3DS.
The PS5 is currently up against the Switch. I'd be shocked if the PS5 wins this battle but who knows how long Sony keep this generation going with all the uncertainty in the world right now.
Also currently the majority of the poll have Switch up against the PS5 and not the PS4.

Just some thoughts:
1) What if Nintendo created Schroedingers console? They simultaneously won and lost the 8th generation with the Switch and the Wii U, respectively.
2) If we count the PSP as a home console, Sony actually won the 7th generation.
3) We could put Nintendo's and Sony's consoles into separate generations. That way, both companies will win 100% of the generations they partake in, as long as release schedules stay the same as they are now.

On a serious note: I think the best way to think about this is to simply look at yearly sales trends over a prolonged period of time and add both home and handheld (and hybrid) consoles to that. An actual market share graph.

How would PSP make Sony win the 7th gen when Wii & DS sold 255 million combined units. Nothing comes close to that number. PS3 and PSP don't come close not even PS2 and PSP. PS2 is not a 7th gen console so it does not count.

People do realize sales do not equate to money in one's pocket, yeah? Raw sales do not take into account operating costs.  What matters is net profit.

From a business perspective the real winner is whomever is making the most money, not selling the most units.
