Ok then PC has sold billions. far more than Nintendo,Sony,MS,SEGA,NEC and whoever else combined.

Ok so they have 1 championship then. You are tied with atari, congratulations.

PC wins every generation by sales since that is your criteria. This has to be the saddest thread and most delusional one by an OP in some time on this forum.

You're talking about steam. How many units of hardware has steam sold? If you want to talk about PC, fine I'll go along with it, PC sold billions. How many championships does that put you at?

All of them since 2003.  PC is the biggest market and Steam is the biggest provider.

Consoles are like Kobe vs LeBron, fighting over scraps while everyone knows Jordan is the GOAT.

It puts you at 1 championship at best. Really it should be zero because PC is not part of the console race.

Nintendo can start a generation, the question is why did switch start 9th gen? What makes it a 9th gen console? Just because its the next nintendo system? I think there needs to be a better explanation than that. Its in an ambiguous spot when looking at timing, so you have to look at other factors in order to classify it.

I don't understand. You argue that Switch is 8th gen and Wii U is 7th gen, but you absolutely refuse to consider the Wii (a console that is practically identical to Gamecube) as 6th gen.

Could you provide a justification, or quote a justification you've given previously?

Wii is 7th gen because it came out in 2006, right when the ps3 snd 360 were getting started. Its an obvious new generation. Wii U is 8th for the same reason. That criteria i JUST laid out cannot be said for switch. THEREFORE you have to look at other factors. Its not that hard to comprehend dude. How many times do i have to repeat myself for you people to understand this simple concept. The switch when it comes to timing is in an ambiguous situation, the same cannot be said for nintendos other consoles.

Good grief some of the console warring in here feels like it fell out of a time machine from 2007.

It's actually really funny, it's so bad it's good.

Happy to be of service

I just refuse your premise. You guys always want to pad the stats for PC so you could say you have the most championships

There are numerous examples on both sides, but your endless talk of "championships" or Cassiel's post about how it's "delusional" to disagree feel like the kind of thing you'd read during the 7th gen console wars where this kind of nonsense was widespread.

I never once said it was delusional to disagree. I posed the question because i think there is an argument to be made on both sides. I lean more towards that switch is 8th gen and stated multiple times that this isnt a settled matter and i think we have to wait until its discontinued and 10th gen is well under way before the answer becomes more clear. Im not calling anybody delusional for disagreeing. In fact ive taken way more heat in this thread than the rest of you combined and ive taken it on the chin with no problem at all. The championships talk ill take ownership of, of course. Lol.

I didn't say you made the "delusional" post, just that it was an example of what I was talking about.

Oh ok i see, i apologize. Reading your post again, i see what you meant.

As a side note, i have to point out that 2007 wasnt exactly a bad time. I say this from experience being on here since then. This place was booming, and part of the reason is that the 7th generation was so exciting, and part of that was the competition that was going on. PS3 vs 360 was peak competition, and the wii topping the charts with the same 4 games week after week just put a funny spin on that. Gaming was more exciting and i think a big reason for that was competition was so fierce. Now what we have is microsoft who seemingly has no interest in competing with anybody and sony who seems to be resting on their laurels doing the bare minimum because nobody is really there forcing their hand. Even nintendo seems to not want to do their best a lot of the time because they have a good idea of what they can get away with (pricing issues, rehashing shit, etc.) Competition is a good thing and when its at its highest, gamers benefit, but also as a product of that, the fans also get more involved and you get more warring. Thats just how things go. All that to say, 2007 was an awesome time. Lol
