Forums - Sales - December 2025 Circana (NPD) Thread + Predictions

We got an update from Mat:

"Dec PS5 units were down approx 30%, XBS down approx 55% and Switch 1 down a little over 70%. NEX Playground was 5th in both units and rev in Dec but still managed to move a bit shy of 200k despite battling sellouts and out of stocks, which is really good, considering."

Based on those percentages and what Mat has already reported prior, then we know:

NS2 > PS5
PS5: At least 963k
XS: Around 270k
NS1: Between 207k (75% drop) and 240k (71% drop)

Hey, they all did better than I thought they would! Especially Switch 1!

PS5 is about what I was initially thinking with sales a little below 1M. XS and NS1 did better than I expected. I originally thought 250K for XS and below 200K for NS1.

It's kinda lame they just don't give basic hardware numbers and we have to tip toe around things from cryptic comments.

Seems like Nintendo had an OK month which is a relief after a poor November. I think Black Friday just sucks the oxygen out of the room for November these days and if you don't have discounts for that month people go spend elsewhere for November these days.

Looks like a decent start for Metroid Prime 4 too.

All told for Switch 2 to be the fastest selling hardware in the US and well ahead of PS4, PS5, and Switch 1 after 7 months is fine given the economy is rough for a lot of the middle class in the US.

Nintendo’s November wasn’t bad at all. The switch 1 had the same November.
The PS5 was just discounted. PlayStation always had better Novembers

Great sales for both Sony and Nintendo. Looks like PS5 wins the Nov+Dec holiday period in the US cumulatively this year as well.

Exact figures would make it much easier. But with the year-on-year % drop that should get us within a few % of actuals.

We had to adjust down NS2 figures in the US slightly in September and November in order for it to be high enough above PS5 as the NS2 outsold the PS5 in terms of units and dollar sales, while the NS2 is cheaper than PS5 when you add in the PS5 Pro so the average selling price would be a little lower.

Edit: Working on the Americas estimates. They will be live shortly.

Not a bad result at all. PS5 just beats out Nintendo for the two months in the US... but all in all not bad for Nintendo... see the difference $50 makes! lol.  I actually guessed Xbox correctly so I am happy about that.  Switch did fine too considering its age.

Surprised we didn't get an update on Nex unless I missed it.

Seems like sales were good but both Sony and Nintendo stock were down 3% so I wonder what it was that the investors were looking for in terms of numbers.
