I think I will pick this one up. Dont have anyone to play with, but nice to have just in case someone comes over.

I really hope Nintendo pushes more AA and Indie games into the exclusive space. Props them up to be as important as AAA and redefines the industry. That's what we really need right now.

Yeah indie and AA games are often more interesting than AAA ones cos they can afford to creative risks rather than just catering to the broadest possible audience.

Plus, you'd almost never get a big AAA blockbuster to commit to even timed exclusivity on a Nintendo platform, but an indie or AA game? They may just go for it in exchange for funding or marketing aid.

For my money, Orbitals looks more interesting than almost anything coming out of the AAA space nowadays.

A big deal for me with Indie games is that a lot of them have been stuck in 16 and 8 bit mode for a decade now. I want Indie games to focus on N64, and PS2 style games. No need to keep it 2D forever. Once we get enough Indies moving into 3D, I think AAA will be in serious trouble because people don't want the best graphics (Especially if a new game console is $1000). They want fun and originality. But with 2D there's often only so much you can do on the originality front. Edit: Also because while AI is usually used to make slop, it can also be used to speed up simple, annoying, yet time-intensive tasks for game production. No more spending hours unwrapping a texture or making 10 different scale 3D models of the same building for LoD use. This will help Indie studios be more efficient per person.

Seriously though. A new game console being $1000, means we have definitely hit a wall with graphics and the era of ever more powerful hardware being a household staple is coming to an end. I think just 10 more years and nobody will even pay attention to graphics power. It will be like fuel economy in cars. Something nice to have but not what consumers value the most (most vehicle buyers in the USA want giant vehicles that are "safe"). People will slowly transition to mobile gaming and other cheaper methods of gaming, while ditching dedicated consoles. Normally I would disagree with people going mobile but both Sony and MS just completely sabotaged the future of dedicated non-hybrid consoles.

The game is out now!

My physical copy is in the mail; can't wait for it to arrive so me and my little bro can get stuck into it.

I'll pick it up after work. This will be my first physical Switch 2 game that is not a S2 Edition.

Edit: Here we go
