It's conceivable that PS5 could be shut out of the top 30 next week. It will be interesting to see if Nintendo ends up taking the top 30 for at least one week during this holiday season.

By the end of it's life Animal Crossing should pass 9 million, which is absolutely insane for a single country.

The crazy thing is that is just the retail sales, total sales are already over 11M in Japan if i remember correctly.

Yeah with digital it's just monstrous, its attach rate to the entire population of Japan is like 10% which is nuts.

That's like a game selling 34 million in the US alone.

New Horizons was a huge game globally, but it seems to have resonated especially strongly with the Japanese.

Doesn’t look like the PS5 price cut is doing much. I’m quite shocked TBH, though as another user had already put it before me, the reason PS5 isn’t selling well in JP has less to do with the price.

Also, NS1/NS2 had an insane week! Looks like NS1 may have a few million left in it this holiday quarter (WW). NS2 also pulling the first 200k Nintendo week in several years.

It was a nice opening for Octopath 0, more than it was for Octopath 2, and with probably some digital sales coming from digital and PC I think it's ok to assume it sold 100k (digital consoles+PC)

Not so much for Metroid. Less than 39k, this is less than half of Dread

Incredible sales for Switch 2. Nintendo is unstoppable in Japan. Looks set to surpass Switch 1's first holiday there.

I thought a lot on here were being way too pessimistic about MP4's chances, but my 5m+ lifetime sales looks like I was the one that was very wrong.

21.4k for MP4 first week on Switch 2, and Switch 1 version doesn't even make the top 10? Dread did 86.7k FW...

I think that huge boost Switch 1 got last week in Japan vs zero boost for PS5 illustrate the demographic problem for PS in Japan. PS don't get holiday boost because families are not buying PS as christmas gifts like they do with Switch/Switch 2. PS is only bought by 30+ year old men in Japan, while Nintendo has that kids/families/women audience as well.
