can i put money on you as well noname

| RolStoppable said: When are we going to see some articles that spell doom for the PS3 because the system's tie ratio is lower than the Wii's in America (even when we exclude Wii Sports and Wii Play)? I mean, it should be expected that a hardcore system would easily beat the casual system nobody is playing games on and buying games for. |
I'd write one myself if I thought it was true, but since the data doesn't support that argument, I prefer not to. Not to put myself on a pedestal here, but I really wish some folks would have the same mindset.
Oh, and @ DMeisterJ:
Y'all have had sixteen months. Nintendo fans have had to put up with this crap for over a decade. Now, when it's least justified, is when the criticism has really been pouring in. Can you really blame them for being sick and tired of it all?
@ mesoteto
Hey, you can give me all the money you want. Honest!

Well the PS3 is doing pretty badly, definitely much worse than anyone was expecting, and I'm not even going to start with Sony's legendary PR bloopers. Any news coverage is going to be "anti-PS3" from a fan's perspective. The case here, on the other hand, is that NY Times published a single article that might have used VGC data, but completely misread it, and did some truly horrifying errors in logic. The following week seems to consist of the entire internet gleefully chanting "I told you so!" in a feeble attempt to make it real. How the heck do you not get angry at that? |
It's easy to not get angry.
If it's not true, the get over it, grow some thicker skin, and move on.
Don't call it 'Anti-Wii week' or anything like that.
There are some pretty horrifying errors in logic for articles on the PS3 too. I could link you to one or two, but a google search should bring up oodles.
The fact of the matter is that there is bad news for every console, exaggerated, untrue, and truthful, but if it's exaggerated or fake, why give it any airtime? If you know it's false, then don't talk about it and move on.
Holy spin 11/10
He beat anything a microsoft/sony pr rep could come up with... they need to hire
this guy.
The deeper Nintendo plunges the knife the more and noiser they howl.
At this point people already have the mind stay that Wii = past time... we all know base ball. All Nintendo has to do is keep em coming and do ad's for educational purposes.
Like I said a guy like this is only yelling at his own "hardcore posse" to stay in form and don't look at what nintendo's doing, instead listen to him tell them what their doing.

* Xbox 360: software sales ratio: 7.5 http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/npds-latest-software-tie-ratios-for-consoles/ NPD doesn't count Wii Sports and if you take out Wii Play, the Wii still is at 4.7-4.8. Now I am not saying that you or anyone else should write such an evil article that the PS3 is doomed in the USA. I was just asking why nobody has written one, even though theoratically you could write such an article based on real data and with the inclusion of some FUD. But instead everyone seems to be focusing on badmouthing the Wii based on wrong and/or misleading data. |
Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding. I was referring to the "PS3 am d00med" argument as being the false one, not the tie ratios. As for why no one writes them: as DMeisterJ pointed out, they were the flavor of the month last year, although tie ratios never really were mentioned because up until recently no one gave a fig about them. Publishers care less about what percentage of the userbase they're selling to, and more about the total units sold. I don't remember tie ratios being mentioned very often before last winter, when the Wii was as hot as it is now, and detractors were scrambling to find some way to make it look bad. If we're still talking about tie ratios a year from now, I will be quite surprised.

"Wii Sports is bundled, it doesn't count." Yesterday, when the new tie ratios were posted, the thread died pretty quickly. |
Ugh, sorry to hear that you guys had to bear that for so long. I'm glad I wasn't around to see it. But look on the bright side: you now have plenty of ammunition to use against those posters. Everytime they say something that's blatantly false, just innocently say "Just like the Wii's tie-ratio!" and hopefully that'll quiet 'em for a bit.
And maybe the Middle East will wake up tomorrow and decide that co-existence is preferable to mindless slaughter. A guy can dream, can't he?
Whats the tie in ratio on dreams.
Only bad things can happen when trolls own or writers on gaming news websites.
I'm a fanboy for sure, I know I am - how I know I am?
People say I am.
When are people going to learn you can base %'s on quantity and give it a time limit outside of it's 100% range or on different subjects as their ratios.
Your going to end up with numbers all over the place and usually none of them right... I mean of course unless its 1:1 or 0.

Wow, it's been awhile since we had a new arrival show up and become a superstar as quickly as I think noname2200 is going to do.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

namename2200: I do indeed still disagree with you, except where you say time will tell.
I've been saying the same thing for probably over a year now and have still not seen much evidence that the Wii is getting the A teams from third party developers. I don't see that changing much.
About Z&W and No More Heroes: I never argued that those games fit into the casual category. The third party games that are selling over 1 million are either casual or RE: UC and RE4. I expect ports and side quests to continue to make it to the Wii, as well as the casual B team games such as Carnival games and M&S Olympics. I don't think the sales of RE4 will convince Capcom to put the next Devil May Cry on the Wii, so unfortunately for Wii fans I don't see those sales making much of a difference.
I think No More Heroes could have received more press considerin the quality if the boss fights. I think it would have had it been an HD title and it fits the demographic better. I think it's proven that a lot of 360 and PS3 owners like to be assassins...
But yeah, we'll continue to disagree until awhile down the road. Until then, I'll continue to find it laughable that every supposed "attack" on the Wii deserves a unique thread and now a compilation thread as if some sort of movement needs to form to counteract the upcoming assault.
