I wanted to be, I liked the ideas and concepts... but I'm too cynical to actually believe it.

So I've read the Bible, but it's on my fiction shelf now...

I can sympathize with that. I’ve only been a Christian since late-January 2024, and I remember in my early days of faith thinking to myself, “I would love to believe this is all true! Life would be so good knowing that there IS a God who cares so deeply about me, who tends to all my fears and worries, who will guide me as a shepherd to a lost sheep… but this is too good to be truth.” But as more time had passed, the more I came to realize that the reason that scripture sounds so good is not a consequence of human preferences shaping and molding the narrative as told by Jesus— rather, it is a natural reflection of God’s character, which we are — by our very design — made to seek to draw near to.

The first step into knowing God is by holding faith in God. If you do not take that first step of simply placing some trust in the word shared through Jesus, then you will never believe.

That all said: Whether an atheist/agnostic or Christian, I view you no different. I hope you are open and curious to the word of God. If it’s okay, would you mind if I prayed over you? Not through a VGChartz forum message lol but on my own time.

Only commenting because I was curious about the term BDAG.
I think I figured out what it is.

I had a minister as a kid who was well versed in Greek Christian scripture.
Would have been a useful resource to have when I was younger and more curious about such things.

BDAG is a Greek-English lexicon for the New Testament (acronym stands for the four main contributors in composing the lexicon). In layman's terms, it’s a repository which attempts to provide the most accurate definition and use of every word used in Old & New Testament scripture according to the original language (Biblical Hebrew, Koine Greek— both are dead languages today). BDAG is particularly renown as being the most universally adopted and acclaimed lexicon for Biblical scripture, with most higher-education theological institutions employing this particular lexicon.

All, I’ll give an update today or tomorrow on what I’m thinking for this group. I’ve got some ideas in my head. So overwhelmed by the response to this thread btw! Did not expect so many users to be interested— I thought maybe one or two comments total would be posted. Definitely not three pages!

Feel free - if anything good happens to me I'll let you know ;)

I've no plans to do anything bad that would endanger my immortal soul, so with some luck I'll just be having a very embarrassing conversation at the Pearly Gates...

I'm probably the person you're expecting least to comment here lol, but you'd be amazed to find out that I actually had an entire Youtube channel dedicated to the biblical end of days. It was in 2017 when North Korea was firing missiles that I had a feeling that something bad would happen in the future and it would be blamed on North Korea. My channel was dedicated to seeing if I could find clues and hints that revealed to us when the tribulation would begin. I haven't made a video in a few years because every single prediction of mine was wrong and I feel a bit silly making all of those videos, but the fundamental belief behind those videos still remains. I still feel like in the future there is a set date for something bad to happen, and I still found some amazing clues as to the start date. The channel is called Antichrist incoming 45. The 45 is a clue as to who I think the antichrist might be. I wouldn't recommend watching any of the videos because they were all wrong. It's taken much longer to happen than I thought it would.

Sorry I technically follow my wife's "religion" Shintoism. It's hard to classify it as a religion though as becouse of it weird nature.

The world belongs to you-Pan America

I think a thread would be more convenient. I dont use discord.

Wow! This is great. :) So happy to come back to so many people interested.

@Alex_The_Hedgehog, @123tbones, @Angelv577, @zero129: I’ll come up with a plan. Would anybody have preference for Discord? Or would you rather do a general “Christian Fellowship Thread” thread on VGChartz? (Or both? Neither? If anybody has better ideas, you could prolly get this organized a lot better than me lol.)

And for anybody else looking to join, please do not hesitate!

Not really on Discord, so i think a thread here would be much better.

I'm new to the faith, still learning to fully accept. I do not and will not ever call myself a Christian, I do not support organized religion, I do however call myself a Follower of Jesus Christ. Been reading the Geneva Bible, and have a Harper Collins Bible on the way. I think Bart Ehrman is worth a watch, very respected and highly regarded Biblical scholar, who is actually agnostic himself, but his personal faith isn't apart of my faith journey. I'm not interested in any kind of group though at all, just wanted to chime in, and wish everyone in here the best of luck!!

I kept waiting for those last couple of sentences.
Glad you can admit it.  I feel bad for those that further disconnect themselves from reality rather than admit being wrong.
